Where are our thoughts when the chips are down?

How strong is our faith when the wind has gone out of our sails?

What is our spiritual tone when we have been taken-down?

If you are like me, you might prefer to "pass" on answering these questions publicly, because our answers (our faith in God during challenging times), can be something that we are less-than proud of.

Many times our faith falters when our house of cards falls.  But true faith, mature faith, strong faith and faith-to-be-emulated does not waiver, even in the winds and whompings of life.

Ask David.

He had a true faith.

Even when he was losing a battle, he kept his winning attitude and hope in God.  David knew God would come through, and we can know that today too.

Psalm 60

(1) You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses.  You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.  (2) You have shaken our land and split it open.  Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.  (3) You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling.  (4) But you have raised a banner for those who fear you—a rallying point in the face of attack.  (5) Now rescue your beloved people.  Answer and save us by your power.  ~Psalm 60:1-5

David's faith was fierce, even when he was down for the count or (temporarily) defeated.  David accepted a reality that is still hard for many of us: We don't always win.  But we can have faith in what's next, and in the truth that God will be the eventual victor.

David had lost the battle of the day, but he knew (because of his faith-in-God, his past experiences-with-God and his love-of-God) that together (he-with-God) would win the war.

I pray that we (too) can muster that mature faith-understanding (and experience) today.

David (in the middle of struggle), asked God in to the situation..to clean it up: Now rescue your beloved people.  Answer and save us by your power (Psalm 60:5).

Even if it's a hard day/season/time: we can know (because of our faith-in-God and experience-with-God and love-of-God) that together (us-with-God) we will win the war.

Let's join David as he goes full-faith-circle: from the loss of today, into the hope of today (and tomorrow), and then onto the victory of God everyday.  (David's battles and enemies differed from ours, but only in name and location.  His losses, injuries, and challenges were the same as ours.)

(6) God has promised this by his holiness: “I will divide up Shechem with joy.  I will measure out the valley of Succoth.

(7) Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too.  Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings.

(8) But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.”

(9) Who will bring me into the fortified city?  Who will bring me victory over Edom?  (10) Have you rejected us, O God?  Will you no longer march with our armies?

(11) Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless.  (12) With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.  ~Psalm 60:1-12

We will be victorious in Christ. And if we don't "feel" it today, stop "feel"-ing and just keep "faith"-ing.  We will share in Christ's victory if we will persevere in faith during (both) the good and hard times.

~~~
You will reign, and even in the hardship--You are reigning, Lord.
~~~

Feel like we are losing the battle today?

    Forget the calvary of human thinking and man's mustered-strength: for all human help is useless (Psalm 60:11).

    Remember Who our Victor is: With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes (Psalm 60:1-12).

~~~
Even if (today) we are "losing" for the moment, keep a winning attitude and hope in God.  David knew God would come through, and we can know that today too.
True faith, mature faith, strong faith and faith-to-be-emulated does not waiver, even in the winds and whompings of life.
Stop "feel"-ing and just keep "faith"-ing today.
Blessings,
