Ever have one of those mornings when you Just.  Don't.  Want.  To.  Get.  Up.

I had one of those mornings today.  The bed was so warm.  So comfy.  So cozy.  So quiet.  So peaceful.  There was a big temptation to rollover and stay there.  Big.

But then my phone vibrated with an incoming text and a few (delightful, warm, cozy) minutes later another buzzy text-vibration shook my phone again..

"Who is texting in the 5 AM hour", I wondered.

Come to find out...it was two of my sisters...in Christ.  Two separate women with separate prayers and praises--up early and already getting-after-it in Jesus' Name.  Already establishing spiritual-community with other sisters-in-Christ, and already seeking God's face and His will and asking others to join in.

Of all the things that are worth waking up for...God is the best reason.

He's got (big!) plans for us today, but we will have to get out of the (comfy!) bed to partner with Him.

Jesus doesn't call us to things that He Himself never entered into.  Christ is our model, our teacher and our epitome-of-examples.  Jesus got out of bed early in the morning.

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.  ~Mark 1:35

Jesus made the choice to get out of the warm bed.  The comfy, cozy, quiet, peaceful bed.  And He did it in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight.

In this verse, Jesus shows us how and when to connect with God.  (Of course we can connect with the Lord at any hour of the day, but when is less-scheduled/less-hectic/less-populated than the pre-dawn hours.)

Notice what Jesus did not do with His "purposed" morning-time: Jesus didn't brainstorm ministries, make a spiritual to-do list for the day, or get productive and active with "doing" good and Godly things.

...and there He prayed.  ~Mark 1:35

Prayer.  That's it.

And that's everything.

If we will get-out-of-bed and start the day talking to God (prayer)...then today is going to be okay.  I promise.

Actually, God promises.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.  ~Jeremiah 29:13

I know the bed is so warm.  So comfy.  So cozy.  So quiet.  So peaceful.  And that there is a big temptation to rollover and stay there.

But rise today (or tomorrow!) a long while before daylight.  Depart to a solitary place.  Pray.

Of all the things that are worth waking up for...God is the best reason.

He's got (big!) plans for us today, but we will have to get out of the (comfy!) bed to partner with Him.

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.  ~Mark 1:35
