Corona Devo 1398


Ever been chosen first for a team?  

...Ever been chosen last? 

Have we any idea how God feels about us? ...How very much He loves us? 

We were His first pick. 

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us...  ~Ephesians 1:4

Have any quirks?  (We all do.)  Little things we do, that we can't even seem to help doing?  Little faults.  Big faults.  Some we might not even notice, and others we might spend our days trying to cover.

But...did we know that God purposed to give His Son to cover our sin, so that we could be holy and without fault in His eyes.

ME?  Without fault in God's eyes? 

YOU?  Without fault in God's eyes? 

Believe it.  That's what God said.  ...And that's what He wanted to do.  ...And it gave Him great pleasure to do so: Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 

Us? Without fault in God's eyes?  Yes.  God decided that even before he made the world.  We were His first pick.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.   ~Ephesians 1:5

What do we want to do today? 

What gives us pleasure?  ...To please ourselves?  To please others? 

...Or to please God?

(I'm not sure I want to share my answer for some days.)  But God's answer is always the same...We were His first pick, and He decided it long ago.  

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.   ~Ephesians 1:5

This is what He wanted to do!  (To adopt us into his own family).  

What do we want to do today?  What's on our daily docket of to-do's?

 ...You know what God wanted to do? 

Even before he made the world, 
God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 
(5) God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. 
This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. ~Ephesians 1:4-5

This is what God WANTED to do!  We were what God wanted to do.  He wanted to adopt us into his own family.  And He did.

We were His first pick, not His second or His last.  His first.

All we have to do is accept His invite into the fam.  His arms are wide open for us (since EVEN before he made the world).  We might not feel worthy of God's love and inclusion, but He's always (just) waiting for us:

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ (20) So he got up and went to his father.  

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.  ~Luke 15:19-20

This is what God wanted to do (Ephesians 1:5).   He wanted to adopt us into his own family.

We were God's first pick.   

Believe it and live in it today.

At work, we provide Trainings for customers, so that they can be updated and educated on all of the latest features (and how to use them) within our product.  Many companies do this--sharing "Best Practices" are a way to ensure positive outcomes on the customer and vendor sides of things. My kids often offer me "life hacks" that they have learned from watching an online video promising to "save time" and "make your life easier".  And just this week, my husband enlightened me about the "tear-away" feature built into most plastic rings holding cans/bottles of pop or Gatorade together.  When separated, the plastic rips open easily, releasing the bottle--saving wildlife that might be caught if it is discarded as trash, and saving me  frustration or angst because I no longer have to pull with all my might to get a bottle out of the plastic rings.  ( Who knew? )  Life hacks do save time and make your life easier! The unanswered “why’s” of life, the disorder of our days, and even the unfairness of our struggles can cause us to question ourselves and also to question our God. But the order-of-Creation and the systems that God has set in place are undeniable answers that swing back and forth like God’s pendulum-reminder that He set the world in motion, and He continues to keep order, even when it seems as if we and our world are in dis- order.   Job was a man going through some heavy and hard stuff.   Maybe we are too.   Job’s trials had caused him to question the order of life, and possibly God’s dominion over it.   We can relate.   The “Why’s?” and the “Why Me’s” can stack up in our minds and hearts, but like a parent exercising loving-authority over a child, God reminds Job and us--of His power, omniscience and of His ultimate authority over everything: Creation… and us today .   Then the  Lord  answered Job from the whirlwind: (2) “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ig

Running low on " good things " today?  Doesn't it (sometimes) seem like/trend like/read like/tweet like/water-cooler-chat or backyard-fence-visit like/intimidate like/depress like... there are no  good things in the land? . I know. It's no secret that many have abandoned  the Law of the  Lord,  and at times, that's us .   It is evident all around us that people have  followed each other  in this sin.  When we look around...or when we live our days...we can wonder: Are there  any  good things  left in the land?
