Corona Devo 1392
I really hate to put people out, and so I hesitate to ask for help, even if someone seems "perfect" for the position.
But if we can get over ourselves sometimes, we will find that God has already established things, and Jesus is our eternal King: we just need to partner with Him.
Nervous about asking a friend of ours (who looks remarkably like Santa) if he and his wife would guest-star as Mr. and Mrs. Claus for a (second annual) Christmas party at our local nursing home...I hesitated on reaching out to him. Everyone is busy at the holidays (especially if you are a ringer for Santa) and I didn't want to put them out. But finally, I got the gumption to email our "Santa" friend.
He said "Yes" immediately, and sent me a second email that read, "Please note that I have been growing the old beard for a while in anticipation of your call."
I hadn't needed to fret about asking: Jesus had already established and scheduled it in "Santa's" heart.
Jesus is our eternal King. He has planned everything--both for us long ago...before we can imagine, and also for long after we have gone to "rest with her father's" (2 Samuel 7:11).

David wanted to honor the Lord and build a temple for Him. It was a lovely idea. But it wasn't God's idea.
The Lord answered David that it would be his son, Solomon, who would build it.
“‘The Lord declares to you: The Lord Himself will make a house for you. (12) When your time comes and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up after you your descendant, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.
(13) He will build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. (14) I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with a human rod and with blows from others.
(15) But My faithful love will never leave him as I removed it from Saul; I removed him from your way. (16) Your house and kingdom will endure before Me forever, and your throne will be established forever.’” ~II Samuel 7:11-16
Sidenote on II Samuel 7:14: Ever felt like THAT? Like we are being disciplined with a human rod and with blows from others?...
But please, let God's word seep into our soul today and let our hearts be reminded that after Verse 14 comes Verse 15: But My faithful love will never leave him...
Ever feel like THAT? Like the faithful love of God will never leave us?
Feel like that today! God's faithful love will never leave us.
God told David then that, "Your house and kingdom will endure before Me forever, and your throne will be established forever.” (II Samuel 7:16).
Jesus is our eternal King.
He directed David that day and spoke to him of his family line forever. But God had (already) known (to the day and year) about David coming into power...and then Solomon after him...and of Jesus being born to a virgin after him:
Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. ~Matthew 1:17
Jesus is our eternal King, and God also knows (to the day and year) every detail of our lives...of those who came before us...and of those who will be in our family line after us.
And God knew then that you and I would be grafted in (if we accept Jesus into our heart) to David's family line, which is really God's family line, and that the children of God would persevere, thrive, exist, and persist forever. Jesus is our eternal King.
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. (17) Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. ~Romans 8:16-17
Be held and comforted today by the eternal (existing before us, and persevering long after us) Word of God and our eteral King, Jesus. The Lord sees us, He knows us...and loves us completely. No matter what, and forever.
The Lord directs you and me this day, but He also knows the details and has scheduled and established (not only) today, but also tomorrow, and our Eternity with Him--if we so choose (to choose Him).
Jesus is our eternal King.
If we can get over ourselves today, we will find that God has already established things, and we just need to partner with Him.
We don't need to fret about today or tomorrow: Jesus (our eternal King) already has it scheduled.
Blessings,sarah
