Corona Devo 1423

I woke up today, and went to into prayer.  Not for any one reason, or emergency reasons, but for all of the many reasons: For my husband, for our kids, for work and provision, for God’s Word to proclaimed, for protection, for health…for friends and family and trials and miracles and so many things. 

So much to say to God.  Where to start and where to end?  So many angles and scenarios and worries and hopes and dreams and so many prayers.  I could go on forever.

And I did.  Sometimes I feel stringy, or drawn-out in my prayers, or too-encompassing, or not-encompassing enough, or…

May God be merciful and bless us.  May His face smile with favor on us.  ~Psalm 67:1

The Bible sums up our prayers for today, and God gives us a better one than I ever could.

These are Your words, Heavenly Father, not mine.  I would have just asked for Your mercy: 

May God be merciful…

But You added the second clause/idea/hope/prayer/promise… “and bless us”. 

You are a God of more.  More than we expect or imagine.  More than (as guilty sinners) we dare to dream.  More than we deserve or could ever earn…

You are a God of more.  More than mercy…but blessing as well. 

Today, in our trials/sorrows/stretchings/and sin…Your Word requests mercy and blessing over us…but more: May His face smile with favor on us (Psalm 67:1).

Today in our good times, our gushings, our joys and our jubulations…and more: May His face smile with favor on us (Psalm 67:1).

You are not only a God of more…You are a father of more.  Only a good father would desire not only mercy for his kids, but blessing also.  Only our Heavenly Father would provide a prayer that prays the all of the deisres of our hearts and more.

Thank You for Your Word, Lord...for Your hope, Heavenly Father...and for Your more, Master.

May His face smile with favor on us.  ~Psalm 67:1

What will that (His face smiling with favor on us) look like today?  Only God knows., and we’ll have to report back or share our prayer-journal entries tomorrow to find out…

But in the meantime, watch for God today.  Be open to Him.

Be aware of His mercy, be grateful for His blessings.

Be both (aware and grateful) when His face smiles with favor on us.

Let's start our day in prayer.  Let's seek God’s blessings, guidance, protection, wisdom, etc….before the sun rises and the shenanigans start.

Whatever and everything that's on our docket today: the Bible gives us a prayer for that:

May God be merciful and bless us.  May His face smile with favor on us.  ~Psalm 67:1

At work, we provide Trainings for customers, so that they can be updated and educated on all of the latest features (and how to use them) within our product.  Many companies do this--sharing "Best Practices" are a way to ensure positive outcomes on the customer and vendor sides of things. The unanswered “why’s” of life, the disorder of our days, and even the unfairness of our struggles can cause us to question ourselves and also to question our God. But the order-of-Creation and the systems that God has set in place are undeniable answers that swing back and forth like God’s pendulum-reminder that He set the world in motion, and He continues to keep order, even when it seems as if we and our world are in dis- order.   Job was a man going through some heavy and hard stuff.   Maybe we are too.   Job’s trials had caused him to question the order of life, and possibly God’s dominion over it.   We can relate.   The “Why’s?” and the “Why Me’s” can stack up in our minds and hearts, but like a parent exercising loving-authority over a child, God reminds Job and us--of His power, omniscience and of His ultimate authority over everything: Creation… and us today .   Then the  Lord  answered Job from the whirlwind: (2) “Who i...

Running low on " good things " today?  Doesn't it (sometimes) seem like/trend like/read like/tweet like/water-cooler-chat or backyard-fence-visit like/intimidate like/depress like... there are no  good things in the land? . I know. It's no secret that many have abandoned  the Law of the  Lord,  and at times, that's us .   It is evident all around us that people have  followed each other  in this sin.  When we look around...or when we live our days...we can wonder: Are there  any  good things  left in the land? There are still some good things in the land ...and no matter how bleak we feel the "forecast" for today is...there will always  be  some good things in the land, because God is in the land.   T he Bible reminds us of that today.   ~~~ The Israelites (and their king, Rehoboam ) were God's people, but like all of us at times/seasons of our lives...they wandered from Lord and His ways....
