Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; (4) By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. ~Proverbs 24:3-4
God's blueprints for our home (and lives) have nothing to do with brick and wood, or marble countertops and three-car garages.
The Lord's instructions to us for building, establishing, and filling our house with (emotional, physical, intellectual, personal, spiritual, and human) precious and pleasant riches are centered around three materials: wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
Way too often we get caught up (much to our society and culture's delight) in the superficial materials and decisions of building a home and life, but if we seek to serve God and live under His blessing, we must build our "house" on wisdom.
And, where to find wisdom? God's glad we asked. He has given us the Bible (His Word), and He has dedicated an entire Book of the Bible (Proverbs) to the dispelling of wisdom to instruct us in the way we should go. Proverbs was written by Solomon, the world's wisest (ever) man.
Solomon was wise because he asked God for wisdom:
“Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. (8) Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. (9) So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
(10) The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. (11) So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, (12) I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. (13) Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. (14) And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” ~I Kings 3:7-14

And the truths, anecdotes, and teachings that Solomon instructs and admonishes to us in Proverbs are the building blocks and guardrails for living a life in the Lord.
Here are just a few Proverbs to lay the groundwork for our "houses" today. See which verses God speaks more loudly into our hearts and lives for today, and adhere to them!
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. ~Proverbs 17:22
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. (9) They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. ~Proverbs 1:8-9
Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. ~Proverbs 22:6
Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers but a prudent wife is from the Lord. ~Proverbs 19:14
Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well... (17) Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. (18) May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. (19) A loving doe, a graceful deer...may you ever be intoxicated with her love. (20) Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife? Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman? (21) For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths. (22) The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast. ~Proverbs 15:15, 17-22
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. ~Proverbs 20:1
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. ~Proverbs 31:10
Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. ~Proverbs 13:24
Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives. ~Proverbs 19:18
He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. ~Proverbs 10:5
Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred. ~Proverbs 15:17
Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. ~Proverbs 23:22
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (11) For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. (12) If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer. ~Proverbs 9:10-12

Solomon was wise because he asked God for wisdom.
And God gave him wisdom.
We can ask God for His wisdom too.
Lord, we are like little children in need of Your instruction and discipline and love. Show us Your ways and grant us Your wisdom as we walk in them. Amen.
We can also read God's wisdom daily in the Bible. We can build our house on it. We can establish our homes and lives by understanding God's Word and ways.
Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; (4) By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. ~Proverbs 24:3-4
