Lord, you knew it all along...

In the garden of Gethsemane, when your soul was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death (Matthew 26:38), and you asked God, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me"...

You knew it all along... and You (obediently) finished that plea with, "Yet not as I will, but as you will" (Matthew 26:39).

Lord, You knew it all along.

Lord, You knew it all along.

You knew that Peter would deny you three times the night before you were crucified (“Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”  ~Matthew 26:34)... but you also knew that You would forgive Peter (three times) and reinstate Him in heart and spirit.

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

(16) Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

(17) The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.  ~John 21:15-17

Lord, You knew it all along, that although Peter would be (first) ashamed by his weakness in faith...that he would (then) be emboldened, empowered and ignited..to serve You all the more devotedly for the rest of his days.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

(17) Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (18) And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. (19) I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”  ~Matthew 16:16-19

Lord, You knew it all along.

Lord, You knew it all along.

That Judas would betray You, in his heart first, and then at the Last Supper, and again publicly with the officials in the Garden.

And yet you included Judas. You taught him and you loved him anyway.  You knew it all along.

Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. (46) Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

(47) While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. (48) Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” (49) Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

(50) Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”  ~Matthew 26:45-49

Lord, You knew it all along.

Lord, You knew it all along...that you would suffer injustice, unfair accusations, trials, abuse and death in Jerusalem.  And you went anyway.

Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, (18) “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death (19) and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”  ~Matthew 20:17-19

Jesus said this a week (or more) before it (all) occurred.

You knew it all along and you willingly went anyway for us.

Lord, You knew it all along.

Lord, You knew it all along...that the pain and separation was temporary and that Your glory is forever.

Lord, You knew it all along...that death could not contain You.  That Satan would not win.  That good triumphs evil.  And that You will reign.

...Grace and peace to you from “he who is,” and who was, and who is still to come...  (5) and from Jesus Christ—the faithful witness, the firstborn from among the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and has set us free from our sins at the cost of his own blood (6) and has appointed us as a kingdom, as priests serving his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power for ever and ever! Amen.

(7) (Look! He is returning with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all the tribes on the earth will mourn because of him.  This will certainly come to pass! Amen.)

(8) “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God—the one who is, and who was, and who is still to come—the All-Powerful!  ~Revelation 1:4-8

Lord, You knew it all along.
