What would Jesus say to us today?

..."but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ (6) Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. (7) But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

(16) Jesus went on to say, “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”

(17) At this, some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?

(19) Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them...  (20) "Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.  ~John 16:5-7, 16-17, 19-20

Our grief has turned to joy today!

Jesus had to "go away" to pay the price for our sin, but (Beloved!) He is alive today and the grave is empty!

Our grief has turned to joy today!

What would Jesus have said in summation of His earthly ministry as a man, His sacrifice for us on Good Friday, and about (today!) Resurrection Sunday?

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

(2) For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.

(3) Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

(4) I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. (5) And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.  ~John 17:1-5

What would Jesus pray to His Father (about us) today?

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.

(7) Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. (8) For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.

(9) I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours...

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.

(12) While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me...

(13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.

(14) I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.

(15) My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. (16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

(17) Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. (18) As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. (19) For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.  ~John 17:6-9, 11-15, 17

The last prayers of Jesus were for us and for our encouragement, strength, and faith as we serve God with our lives.

We (and our faith and our protection as we stand for Him in this world) were the last thing on His mind.

Right(!) after these prayers for His Believers, Jesus was arrested, which led to His crucifixion, which brought His death...and His Resurrection!

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.  ~Matthew 28:6

Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb (12) and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

(13) They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” (14) At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there...   ~John 20:11-14

TURN AROUND AND SEE JESUS STANDING HERE.

He is alive.

He has paid the price for our sin.

He lives.

He lives in us.

He has prayed for us.

Happy Easter.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.   ~John 17:3
