Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ... (2) then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.  ~Philippians 2:1-2

Lord, thank you for the (Scriptural) reminder that everything you have given to us... You want us to pass on to others.  Amen.

If we are encouraged by knowing You, by Your forgiveness of our sins, and by being united with Christ, then we are called by You to be like-minded and like-hearted to others.

We ARE encouraged by knowing you...and so let us encourage others!

Send a note.  Make a call.  Give a compliment.  Look past the surface.  Appreciate the favor.  Extend an invitation.  Encourage another today, having the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

Therefore if you have... any comfort from his love... if any tenderness and compassion, (2) then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.   ~Philippians 2:1-2

Lord, Your love provides a comfort to us beyond anything else that this world could ever offer.  Your empathy, peace, protection, and compassion are a spiritual balm to our hearts and spirits.

Your love provides comfort, tenderness and compassion that the secular world knows nothing about.  In a quick-to-judge and fast-to-condemn society, let us be like-minded with You and like-actioned in how we treat others.

We are blessed to receive your tenderness and compassion over our mistakes, our hurts, our sins, and our dreams.  Today, may we have purpose in making You happy (make my joy complete) by pouring out comfort, tenderness and compassion on those we encounter--that they might know your love and forgiveness over their mistakes, hurts, sins, and dreams, just as we have.

This makes Your joy complete...and ours.  There is no greater gift than a shoulder when we need to cry, or an arm around us when we need a hug or to be steadied.  This is what Your love does for us, Lord.

May it be what we do out of love in our relationships with one another, having the same mindset as You (Philippians 2:5)Amen.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, (4) not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.  ~Philippians 2:3

It's like You are inside our minds, Lord...as if You know even our most remote thoughts.

Oh wait...you do.  (You have searched me, Lordand you know me. (2) You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. ~Psalm 139:1-2)

Forgive us, Father.

We love You, Lord.  We want You, Lord.  We seek You, Lord.

But then we revert right back to championing ourselves.  We can't seem to help it.  But You can.

Help us today to Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, (4) not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others (Philippians 2:3-4).

Are we blessed and encouraged by knowing (and belonging) to Christ?

There is not a YES loud enough for that answer.

The forgiveness He's given us.  The love He pours into us.  The people He places in our path.  The places He takes us.  The faith He exercises in us.  The testimony He has (is giving!) us.

Yes(!) we are encouraged from being united with Christ!

Then...what?

Then...pass it on.  Be like-minded and like-purposed with Jesus in what we do, say, and pray today.  In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus... (Philippians 2:5).

Spiritual sidenote:

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion...  ~Philippians 2:1

The love that the Lord has for us is deep.  His love is real, not superficial.  We can trust Him and we can crumple into His arms when the floor drops out beneath us.

Are we lying flat on our face today?

Has the rug been pulled out?

Let the Lord's Word remind us...

He encourages us.

He comforts us.

He is tender with us.

He has compassion for us and on us.

In being united with Christ we have encouragement, comfort, tenderness, and compassion from Him.  He's right here with us today.

Blessings,

sarah
