What's making us anxious today?
I couldn't possibly know what/who/why you are anxious today, but we each have reasons to be anxious, for sure.
Just in my close friends and family today, things that are making me anxious include a heart ablation, heart bypass surgery, a procedure for a stint into a leg vein, Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, cancer of the stomach lining, knee injuries, sickness, deception, chemo, financial crunches, evil, being cancelled as a Christian, death.
There is much to be anxious about, for sure.
Our stomach can get in knots and our faith can get frayed when we are anxious.
It would take an hour for me to lay out all of my prayers and requests and anxieties before the Lord.
And that's just what He wants, in order to give us what we want.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (7) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-7
The Lord wants us to unload our anxieties onto Him (present your requests to God)...by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.
God doesn't want us to be anxious about anything, and He gives us His prescription for how not to be.
Give them to Him. Present your requests to God. Give them all to God.
If it takes an hour to list, and lament, and pray, and explain, and request to God...then let's spend the hour.

We know what being anxious feels like.
But do we know what the peace of God feels like? The peace...which transcends all understanding? The peace that we can't explain, but that we also can't deny...once we have presented our requests to God...by prayer and petition, and with thanksgiving.
I want that peace. And we get that peace when we submit our situation to the Lord, by prayer and petition, and with thanksgiving. God says that we will get His peace and that it will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), when we do this.
So...let's do this today.
~~~
What's making us anxious today?
Do not be.
Instead of being anxious, let's pray to God. Let's petition God (list our requests and prayers). Let's give thanks to Him that we can and that He will.
Even if it takes an hour. What is the peace of God worth to us today? Will we stop and be still long enough to gain this peace of God, which transcends all understanding, and which will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus?
It's worth it.
And it's a formula we can follow:
- Stop worrying (Do not be anxious about anything...)
- Present your requests to God via prayer, petition, and praise to Him.
- Wait upon the Lord for His peace over the situation.
- And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
- Praise the Lord when His peace comes.
We may be facing many anxious things today. But not alone.
If our stomach is in knots and our faith is fraying, hear the Word of the Lord today.
Even if it takes an hour for us to lay out our prayers and requests and anxieties before the Lord, that's just what He wants (present your requests to God), in order to give us what we want (And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.)
Try it. It really works. God really works.
