Wow, Lord, Your creation is astounding and ever-changing, and that includes us.

Mount Rainier, at 14,410 feet tall, has more glaciers than any other peak in the contiguous United States.  You created it, Lord, and You still change and reshape it, just like us.

He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.  (6) You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.  (7) But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; (8) they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.  (9) You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.  ~Psalm 104:5-9

Snow melts, and ice flows down from the peaks, reshaping the mountainside and the paths it makes and takes.

The mountains melt beneath him and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope.  ~Micah 1:4

In the ecological-shifts: the plants, animals, hikers, and roads must adjust and must adapt in order to survive.  And survive they do.

The flora, the fauna, the animals (unseen and seen), the beauty (Seen! Felt! Experienced!) radiate from this mountain.

And the adaptability and uniqueness that God gave these plants and animals to survive in their surroundings is the same adaptability and uniqueness that God gave us to survive in ours.

The Glacier Lily is a flower that produces its own heat so that it might peep through the snow covering of early spring.  God ordained these adaptations for healthy survival in their environment.

The coat of the Snowshoe hare changes color from brown in the spring and summer into white for the winter so that it blends-in with the ground covering of each season.  God ordained these adaptations for healthy survival in their environment.

Are we making the necessary adaptations to our environment today? To whatever changes are occurring, and to the “seasons” which are upon us…and to the people that we are called to witness to in the midst of all of it?  God ordained these adaptations for our healthy survival to shine for Him in our environment.

To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. (21) To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. (22) To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.  ~I Corinthians 9:20-22

Are we making adaptations to the people around us?  The seekers?  The lost?  Adaptations of Christ’s love and empathy so that we might (then) share His truth and His hope?

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  ~Colossians 3:12

Even the mountains may change in shape and form and the Lord tells us that He can move them at his command (He moves mountains without their knowing it...  ~Job 9:5).  But some things will never change: The need of the human heart to know that we are made with a purpose (For I know the plans I have for you,”, declares the Lord, “plans for your good, and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.  ~Jeremiah 29:11) and that we are loved (For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.  ~John 3:16).

The Creator of the mountains continues to create and transform them, and God equips the inhabitants (plant and animal) of the mountains to adapt.

The Creator of us and of everyone continues to shape and form us, and His Word equips us to adapt and to be adept in helping others to survive (and thrive) today.  The answer is the Lord.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  (2) My help comes from the Lordthe Maker of heaven and earth.  ~Psalm 121:1-2

Wow, Lord, Your creation is astounding and ever-changing, and that includes us.

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lordlet us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.  (2) Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  (3) For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.  (4) In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.  (5) The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.  ~Psalm 95:1-5
