Have we been to the mountains lately?  Or ever?  To be up-close to them, or even to view them at a distance: they are
glorious and majestic.

Powerful in physical state, and in their aura too.

And if we can imagine/remember/conjure the feeling and sense that we have when standing before a big, bold, mountain...then the Psalmist asks us to keep-that-thought...and multiply it, as we consider the Lord our God:

You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.  ~Psalm 76:4

If we think the mountains are strong...bold...amazing...our God is more.  More majestic than the everlasting mountains.

Scripture (Psalm 76) tells us this today...why?

Because maybe we can/will/should consider a mountain today.  Whether on a trip and enjoying one, or even in our mind's-eye, imagining a mountain.  It is glorious and majestic...but the Lord is more.  You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains (Psalm 76:4).

But why else might God present this Scripture to us today?

Anyone (else) facing a mountain?  Something big.  Something bigger than us, and we know because we have already tried to climb it on our own.  But we didn't succeed.

This mountain we face today is powerful.  (Seemingly) immovable.  Strong.  Intimidation.  Glorious and majestic  in a way, because it is way out of our league.

Are we (back) at the foot of our mountain and staring up at the (impossible-to-scale) face of it?

Are we tired?  Exhausted, really, from climbing and perhaps even making some headway...and then coming back down that mountain because despite our travail we could not traverse it on our own?  That mountain was too much for us.

But our Lord is more.

You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.  ~Psalm 76:4

And...He is, Friend.  Our Lord IS glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains that we face today.

And, what's more, is that God promises more.  We will climb that mountain, if we will climb it with Him, and we will conquer that mountain with God.

I can't say how or when, but God always makes good on His Word, and not only is He glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains in nature, He is glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains in our lives and in human-nature.

Our Lord knows what mountains we face today, and He will have victory over our enemies.

(5) Our boldest enemies have been plundered.  They lie before us in the sleep of death.  No warrior could lift a hand against us.

(6) At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still.

(7) No wonder you are greatly feared!  Who can stand before you when your anger explodes?

(8) From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you.

 (9) You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth.

(10) Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.

(11) Make vows to the Lord your God, and keep them.  Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One.  (12) For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him.  ~Psalm 76:5-12

~~~
He knows that we have mountains before us today.  God is aware of our enemies, and He promises victory over them, because He is glorious and more majestic than them.  Our Lord is glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains (Psalm 76:4).
Let the Lord handle our (physical/spiritual/emotional/spiritual) mountain today, and watch what He does...because He is more than our mountain will ever be.
Blessings,
sarah
