What in the world is happening in our world?  

Lord, you are searching for honesty.  

You struck your people, but they paid no attention.  You crushed them, but they refused to be corrected.  They are determined, with faces set like stone; they have refused to repent.  ~Jeremiah 5:3

What in the world is happening with our people...and our leaders?

(4) Then I said, “But what can we expect from the poor?  They are ignorant.  They don’t know the ways of the Lord.  They don’t understand God’s laws.  

(5) So I will go and speak to their leaders.  Surely they know the ways of the Lord and understand God’s laws.”  

But the leaders, too, as one man, had thrown off God’s yoke and broken his chains.   ~Jeremiah 5:4-5  

Is anyone looking to the Lord?  Are our leaders?  Are we, the people?  His people.

Is anyone listening to what God has spoken?  

Our businesses, our schools, our government, our families, our marriages...ourselves: Too many no longer champion the word of the Lord...they scorn it.

And God knows it.  

To whom can I give warning?  Who will listen when I speak?  Their ears are closed, and they cannot hear.  They scorn the word of the Lord...

(13) “From the least to the greatest, their lives are ruled by greed.  

From prophets to priests, they are all frauds. 

(14) They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound.  They give assurances of peace when there is no peace.  

(15) Are they ashamed of their disgusting actions?  Not at all—they don’t even know how to blush!  Therefore, they will lie among the slaughtered.  They will be brought down when I punish them,” says the Lord.  ~Jeremiah 6:15  ~Jeremiah 6:10, 13-15  

We seem to be in a season-of-self, but (because we serve a Holy God), it cannot last without judgment coming.  Consequence falling.  Justice occurring.  

Justice?  

Not justice in terms of what we have decided is right and wrong/fair and unfair/ or just...but justice in terms of the Holy God the reigns on high.  

Whether or not we "chose" to acknowledge His dominion matters not.  God is holy and in Sovereign power, regardless.

Our love-of-self violates our honoring-of-Him and His laws of righteousness.  

So, what can we do?  What must we do, as a people, as a Nation, as a world, and as individuals today?

First of all, we can repent, and Lord, we do, today.  Thank you for Your Word which illuminates our darkness.

We see Your Word, Father.  We hear it and receive it.  Lord, we pray for good to overcome evil in our hearts and thoughts, and in our Nation and in our world.  Your world.

We pray for Your Kingdom to come, Lord.  For Your will to be done.  On earth as it is in Heaven (Matthew 6:10).  

What choice do we have today?  If there is corruption, how can we stand apart from it?  If there is unrighteousness, how can we become righteous?  

Father, please give us tangible direction and actual action steps to take.

This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around.  Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.  Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.  ~Jeremiah 6:16

What in the world is happening in our world?  In our leaders?  In our institutions?...  Stop worrying/looking/turning to all of that today.  Stop.

This is what the Lord says: “Stop"... ~Jeremiah 6:16

 “Stop at the crossroads and look around."  ~Jeremiah 6:16

Look around.  We are not traveling/seeking/repenting all alone.  Others are here at the crossroads with us.  

Others in our families/Nation/world/businesses/government are here at the crossroads and looking around too.

We are asking, and God's way is here.  

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (8) For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  ~Matthew 7:7-8

We are asking, and God's way is here.  It is written in the Bible (the old, godly way).  It is a clear path.  Travel it today, and guess what we will find?  

Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.  Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.  ~~Jeremiah 6:16

Are we weary of what is happening in our world?  In our people, our businesses, our schools, our government, our leaders, and in ourselves?  

What in the world is happening in our world today?  That's up to us today.  

This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around.  Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.  Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.  ~~Jeremiah 6:16
