Everyone's got their own ideas these days.  Their own "truth" that they live by.  Their own "science" that they trust.  Even their own prophesies that they tell.

People find their answers in other people, and to feel safe or informed, we listen to what others are saying.

But we need to listen intently to what others are saying and we should keep asking each other, ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’ (Jeremiah 23:35), and how does it compare with what people/culture/"science" are saying?

Without God's central and foundational Truth, there can be many "truths", but no true Truth: just varying and various dissentions of truth, all shaped by human experience and bias.

People speak, and some even claim to speak for the Lord, but you should keep asking each other, ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’ (Jeremiah 23:35).

Chatting with neighbors, listening to the news, sitting in a church pew, and gathered around the dinner table: you should keep asking each other, ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’ (Jeremiah 23:35).

The world is full of talk, but how can we discern how to live for God today?

The first step is turning to God's Word and knowing God's Word.  And then we can weed out the false truths of today and the false prophets (people claiming to speak of the Lord, but telling their own truths).

“I have not sent these prophets, yet they run around claiming to speak for me.  I have given them no message, yet they go on prophesying.  (22) If they had stood before me and listened to me, they would have spoken my words, and they would have turned my people from their evil ways and deeds...

(25) “I have heard these prophets say, ‘Listen to the dream I had from God last night.’ And then they proceed to tell lies in my name.

(26) How long will this go on? If they are prophets, they are prophets of deceit, inventing everything they say. (27) By telling these false dreams, they are trying to get my people to forget me, just as their ancestors did by worshiping the idols of Baal.   ~Jeremiah 23:21-22, 25-27

People, media, politicians and science will tell their truths, but we must stick to the Bible's Truth, friends!

If we will be true to God's Truth, our lives will wreak of it.  If we will teach God's Truth, our Bible studies, youth groups, churches and devotionals will proclaim His every word...and people will know the difference.

“Let these false prophets tell their dreams, but let my true messengers faithfully proclaim my every word.  There is a difference between straw and grain!

(29) Does not my word burn like fire?” says the Lord.

“Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?...

(35) You should keep asking each other, ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’

(36) But stop using this phrase, ‘prophecy from the Lord.’ For people are using it to give authority to their own ideas, turning upside down the words of our God, the living God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

(37) “This is what you should say to the prophets: ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’  ~Jeremiah 23:21-22, 25-29, 35-37

God's Word is so goodSo timely!  And so relevant.

We can be caught wondering what to think and what to believe in today's world, but did we catch what God says about His Word?  It's not all-that-often in Scripture that God speaks of Himself, His attributes, or His authority, but when He does...we had better listen up and recieve His reminder.  There is no authority greater than His.  There is no truth that surpasses God's Truth.

(29) Does not my word burn like fire?” says the Lord.

“Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?  ~Jeremiah 23:29

Father, there is a difference between straw and grain, and we do not want to believe or dispel truth that is like straw (perishable and able to be burned in the fire).  Lord, make us strong and fortified in your Word and productive and versatile for You, just like grain

Your word crushes false truths and highlights Your power, just like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces.  Let us bring the hammer of your Truth and Word to others today.  Amen.
