Corona Devo 1704

Everyone showered in my house the other night.  Sometimes it's a split of morning showers and night showers, but due to practices and other evening events, everyone showered in succession the other night.  

I was purposely the last, after everyone else was nestled in bed, and before I went up to shower, I did what I do many nights before retiring: I started a last load of laundry for the day, and also filled the cup in the dishwasher with soap and turned it on so that we would have clean dishes when everyone awoke.

But as I hopped in the shower, the hot water seemed to be thinking about whether or not to flow, and my whole time in there, I felt like it was going to run out...and I don't blame it, after all, four other people had already showered, and hot water was currently spraying in my shower but also into our washing machine and dishwasher too.

How much hot water could we possibly have?  I was expecting the water to run cold at any moment, that would have made sense.  But it never did.  My shower was warm the whole time.

Have you met our Heavenly Father?  He is like the hot water tank that never runs out.  

We don't deserve His love and mercy and blessing (...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...  ~Romans 3:23), but He gives it anyway, and He keeps on giving it.  His love won't run out anytime soon, or ever.  Our Lord is in it for the long haul with us.  

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (21) to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.  ~Ephesians 3:20-21

And like a multi-shower night with appliances also drawing hot water from the tank...Jesus can handle multiple and many people "drawing" from His strength, all at the same time.  Indeed, He welcomes it: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (Romans 12:12).  

God's love for us is lavish and He doesn't let up.  

If we have been thinking that our luck has run out, or that God's love has expired...think again.  God's grace and love are still flowing and are everflowing.  He doesn't turn the nozzle off on His kids, even though there are so many of us clamoring for Him.  

And I pray that your love will have deep roots. I pray that it will have a strong foundation. (18) May you have power together with all the Lord’s holy people to understand Christ’s love. May you know how wide and long and high and deep it is. (19) And may you know his love, even though it can’t be known completely. Then you will be filled with everything God has for you.  ~Ephesians 3:17-19

God has much for us, Brothers and Sisters.  We might worry that His love and favor will run dry, it never will.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; (23)  they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  ~Lamentations 3:22-23

He is good.  

Our God is a good, good God, and His mercies do not run low, peter-out, or expire, no matter how many of us are drawing from His reservoir.  

Thank goodness.  And thank God.

How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7
