What I love about God is that He loves us, and He that loved us even before we knew Him.
...Even before we were trying to live for Him...He loved us then. And even now, when we try and fail in loving and serving Him...He loves us still.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8
What I can't believe about God is that He considers us trustworthy to serve Him and beyond that, that He has appointed us to serve Him.
Us? (And let me be more honest...ME?)
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him... ~I Timothy 1:12
Yes...us. We can praise the Lord today because He has given us strength to do his work. He considered (us) trustworthy and appointed (us) to serve him... ~I Timothy 1:12
What are we doing with those privileges that our Savior has placed on our shoulders...His work? He has given us the strength to do it, but...are we?
It's a bit convicting. The God of the universe...God Almighty has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him.
How are we living and serving Him today?
~~~
It is such a high calling...for such a low-man on the totem pole. (Speaking in reference to myself.)
God sees us as more than we see ourselves because He knows that (in Him) we are called to be more than we are. And for this, we thank Him.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him... ~I Timothy 1:12
The apostle Paul was talking about himself when he said this to other Believers, but I say it as I talk to you:
...even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. (14) Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. ~I Timothy 1:13-14
Our God is so good.
Even though we used to _(name your sin against Him)__, God had mercy on us. I echo Paul in proclaiming, "Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus" (I Timothy 1:13-14).
And why would God do that? Why would He have mercy on us? Why would He give us strength to do his work? Why would He consider us trustworthy and appoint us to serve him?
Why?
The apostle Paul tells us why:
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all.
(16) But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.
(17) All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. ~I Timothy 1:15-17
Oh (goodness) Yes, Christ Jesus could use ME as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners.
Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life (I Timothy 1:16).
What I love about God is that He loves us, and He that loved us even before we knew Him.
What I can't believe about God is that He considers us trustworthy to serve Him and beyond that, that He has appointed us to serve Him.
What humbles and amazes me about God is that He ties our yesterday and our today together to create our testimony (our life-story about how we came to know Him). He uses our sin to relate us to others... and He uses our redemption to exemplify salvation to others .
Why?
Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. ~I Timothy 1:16
What overcomes me about God is Who He is and what He's done, and how He has written us into His story.
All honor and glory to God forever and ever!... Amen. ~I Timothy 1:17
