“In that day,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.   ~Jeremiah 31:1

God is pro-family.  He wants us to have and keep and strive for family, because He created family, He knows the benefits we receive in family, and God is for family.  I will be the God of all the families...(Jeremiah 31:1).

Seek family.  Invest in family.  Pursue family.

Make the effort.  Make the drive.  Pick up the phone and call.  Book the flight or plan the trip.

  • Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” – Exodus 20:12
  • “Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” – Colossians 3:13
  • “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1

“In that day,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people. (2) This is what the Lord says: “Those who survive the coming destruction will find blessings even in the barren land, for I will give rest to the people of Israel.”   ~Jeremiah 31:1-2

Those who survive the coming destruction...

There is much destruction in our culture and our lives.

Marriage?  It's hard to find people who champion marriage (for long) these days.  But the destruction of marriage (divorce)?---That is commonplace, laissez faire, and accepted these days.  Divorce is a household threat and reality.  Divorce is not a "coming" destruction it is a current destruction.

But I know someone who champions marriage, and Who has a good plan for the marriage that we are in or that we are seeking: God.

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” (32) This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. (33) However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.  ~Ephesians 5:31-33

God has groundwork for marriage (love and respect), and with these come healthy marriages and families, and God is pro-family.

“In that day,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families... and they will be my people.   ~Jeremiah 31:1

Family: Where does it begin?  How can we incubate it and best-equip it to thrive?

Family (plural) begins right here with us as individuals.  If we want to be pro-family, we must first be pro-God.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.   ~Deuteronomy 6:5

Family: Where does family birth?  ...In a God-centered marriage, because husband and wife will be a picture of Christ and His church, intertwining, protection, love, respect and union.

For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. (24) Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
(25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (26) to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, (27) and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (28) In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies  ~Ephesians 5:23-28

Where is the beginning of family?  At the beginning of a life brought into that family.
Children learning about the Lord establishes a family serving the Lord.

These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, (2) so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.  ~Deuteronomy 6:1-2

How does family thrive?  By the investment of the members into each other daily.  Seeing the needs of those we love, and meeting/fulfilling, and loving those needs and our role in meeting them.  Whatever we do (laundry/taking out garbage cans/making meals/lawncare/caretaking, etc.) do it all for God's glory.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.  ~Colossians 3:17

God is pro-family, and where does family begin?
One day at a time, and with some of God's manna each (and every!) day.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”  ~Matthew 4:4

We're His people!  Let's "family" like it!

Society, culture, (and sometimes us) create destruction on families. But... “In that day,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.”   ~Jeremiah 31:1-

Cheers to being in God's family...He is our God.
