I just can't get it right: I'm such a screw up.

Sometimes unintentional..I'm trying to do good, but I do "me" instead of do "God", and the outcome falls short...  And sometimes I sin intentionally.  I know my attitude/actions/motive/resentment/fear/worry/unbelief is sinful and I willingly partake anyway.

I turned away from God, but then I was sorry.

I kicked myself for my stupidity!  I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.’   ~Jeremiah 31:19

And not just my younger days...TODAY.

Everytime I turn to myself and my will and my strength, I am turning away from God.

I am so sorry, Lord.  I kicked myself for my stupidity!  I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did... (Jeremiah 31:19).

You must hate me, Father.  I hate myself sometimes.

~~~
This is how we feel (sometimes), isn't it?  Like a failure and an outcast from others and certainly from a Holy God.  We've let everyone down, and if the Lord is looking for a son or daughter to be proud of, it's not us.
We say, "I just can't get it right: I'm such a screw up."
But what does God say?
Sit down, Child of God, because our Almighty Lord is speaking to us today: right into our hearts and into the lies that we tell ourselves.
God doesn't say that He is done with us today.
God doesn't say that He is defeated by us today.
God doesn't say that He is disappointed with us today.
God says that we are His darling today.
Darling means "dearly loved" (Merriam-Webster Dictionary), and our Father in Heaven calls us His darling on this day.
“Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord ~Jeremiah 31:20
“Is not _(our name)_ still my son(/daughter), my darling child?” says the Lord ~Jeremiah 31:20
God loves us, even in our mistakes and shortcomings and sin.  He calls us darling...even though and even still.  He knows all about us, and He calls us darling.
He knows that we take the long-way-around sometimes.  The hard-way-around sometimes.  The sinful-way-around sometimes, but He still loves us.  And He will keep correcting us in His love:
“I often have to punish him, but I still love him.  That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.  ~Jeremiah 31:20
He still loves us.
Don't say, "I just can't get it right: I'm such a screw up", because God is not saying that.
You know what He is saying?
That we are His darling (well loved) child.
“Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord ~Jeremiah 31:20
~~~

Don't say, "I just can't get it right: I'm such a screw up", because God is not saying that.

You know what He is saying?

That nothing can separate us from His love:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?...

(37) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  ~Romans 8:35, 37-39

~~~
Don't say, "I just can't get it right: I'm such a screw up", because God is not saying that.
You know what He is saying?
That He has an un-ending, non-mood-affected, and sin-blind love for us...an everlasting love.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.  ~Jeremiah 31:18
~~
If we had/have turned away from God, but (now) we are sorry...
And even if we are kicking ourselves for our stupidity, and we are thoroughly ashamed of all we did (Jeremiah 31:19)...the good Lord loves us, and He calls us dearly loved: His darling child.
We can stop (verbally/mentally/emotionally/spiritually) beating ourselves, because God's not.
I turned away from God, but then I was sorry.
I kicked myself for my stupidity!  I was thoroughly ashamed of all I did in my younger days.’
(20) “Is not Israel still my son, my darling child?” says the Lord.  “I often have to punish him,     but I still love him.  That’s why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him.  ~Jeremiah 31:19-20
Despite how we might think or feel, remember today that we are His darling
