Pray first of all today.  Not as a last-ditch effort or as an afterthought.

Pray todayNot weakly, timidly, or superficially, but pray today with intention, fervor, and expectation.

Pray today in petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving.

Pray today for whom?  For all people.

Pray today for whom, specifically?  For kings and all those in authority.

Pray for our President today.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.  ~Psalm 33:12

Pray that our President would seek counsel from the Lord and from the Bible.  And pray that our President would seek counsel from Godly men and women.

Pray today, I urge you.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—(2) for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (3) This is good, and pleases God our Savior...  ~I Timothy 2:1-3

Pray for the one in charge of our Nation today.

Pray today for (our) kings and all those in authority, because they will be representing us, governing us, law-making for us, and leading us.

But pray today for our trust not to be in our kings and all those in authority, but to be in the name of the Lord our God.

Let's not be confused about Who ultimately governs us, and in Whom our trust should lie:

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.  ~Psalm 20:7

We vote, we reside, we are citizens, we seek the prosperity of our Nation, but: trust?  In whom do we trust?  Check your dollar bill but also check your heart: In God we trust.

...We trust in the name of the Lord our God.  ~Psalm 20:7

Pray over the one in charge of our Nation today, but pray also for us to take charge in prayer over ourselves today.

A nation, a state, a city, a family, or a person is not created or dissolved by one leader over it.  Nations, states, cities, families, and people are made and strengthened and groomed into righteousness and thriving through willing and humble prayer.

Through individual honesty and contrite hearts turned to the Lord are great nations founded, firmed, and flourished.

Let's humble ourselves today and pray.

...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  ~2 Chronicles 7:14

Lord, we lift up our land today and we humble ourselves and pray.  We are seeking Your face and help us to turn from our wicked ways.  Our salvation and success and safety and sovereignty are in You, Father, and not in any mere mortal, but we do (also) pray for our President today.  Please hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land.  Amen.

Let's humble ourselves today and pray.  If we will, and if we will pray for kings and all those in authority...God forgives and will heal our land.
