The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!” ~Proverbs 26:13
What are we assuming today that is keeping us from advancing?
What are we worried about that is halting the plans that God has already made for us?
Will we thwart them (again) with our own thinking?
Have we hypothesized ourselves into a hypnosis of stagnation, isolation, or pessimism, simply because we always dream up the worst-case-scenario and allow it to affect our plans and life?
That's ugly. And it's sad. And it is unfaithful to the Lord.
We miss what God is doing (and what He wants us to be doing) when we fear/worry/make-up/manifest negative non-realities.
The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!” ~Proverbs 26:13
Spoiler alert: There is NO lion in the road.
I sometimes tell myself that I should keep a journal of all the things that I worried about that never came true.
I would be ashamed.
And we should be.
We serve a God who is sovereign. We are loved by a God who loves us. We can know which road to take and which roads not to take, if we will just ask our Dad, (our Heavenly one), for directions...and trust Him.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (6) in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
There's no lion in the road. We don't have to fear life, fear people, fear situations...we don't even have to fear death.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ ~Isaiah 41:10
But we will have to believe more in God than in the worries of our world. Worry is the lion in the road.
The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!” Proverbs 26:13
Let's not have lazy faith today. Let's trust in God. We can trust Him. God is bigger than the lions-of-lies that pounce around our brain.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. (4) In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? ~Psalm 56:3-4
Let's not miss what God has for us today because we talk ourselves out of it (out of His plans) by convincing ourselves that there's a lion in the road.
There's no lion in the road---that's just satan's way of keeping us (emotionally/physically/intellectually/spiritually) cooped up inside (of ourselves). Get wise to his lies and we can trust in the true Lion...of Judah.
But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.” ~Revelation 5:5
Let's not let worry or anxiety or fear or the unknown fetter us today. Live life! There's no lion in our road today. Be bold.
The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. ~Proverbs 28:1
