Oh goodness.  This world can overwhelm us sometimes with headlines and stock market dips.  With young people without discipline and older people without discipline.  With generations that seem to be falling away from the Lord.  With a beautiful Earth that's becoming more polluted.  With questions, worries, and stresses...

Some days we wonder if it's all worth it.  And what's the use of even trying today if it's all going down the tubes anyway?

Well, guess what?  Today I saw a blackbird eggshell, empty after hatching.

Well, guess what?  Today a friend sent me a picture of her beautiful newborn twin grandkids.

Even though we sometimes feel as if the world is ending, guess what?  Life is continuing, and so is the opportunity to live it.

God's not finished yet...at least not with that just-hatched blackbird or those little miracle-twin babies.  And He's not finished with us either.

See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.  ~Isiaah 43:19

It ain't over till He (God) says it's over, and while we can become overwhelmed and anxious and worried...God's not.  God's busy birthing new life in every definition.
See the plants in bloom.
See the baby geese.
See the hatched blackbird shells.
See the foals and calves and kittens and infants around us.
See the weddings and graduations and family reunions.

Oh blah dee, oh blah dah: Life Goes On and more specifically: fresh life is born each day and we have the opportunity to live life afresh with Christ each day.

And guess what?  God brings life.
Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds.  And he will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture.  ~Zechariah 10:1

Have you never heard?  Have you never understood?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary.  No one can measure the depths of his understanding.  ~Isaiah 40:28

The world and its woes can make us weary, but guess what!?  Our Lord and His Law and His light give us life.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.  (8) For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit."  ~Jeremiah 17:7-8

The world can weigh us down, but God's hope, forgiveness, joy and promise gives us reason to live.

There is hope in God's Word and Truth.  And guess what?  There is hope in His Creation.  The blackbird eggshell that was lying before me on the mulch at work lies before you too.  It's a tiny, cracked, fragile example (and proof) that something new is (literally) hatching before us today.

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; (8) or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.

(9) Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?  (10) In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.  ~Job 12:7-10

Guess what?  Life is hatching all around us.

Blessings,
