Corona Devo 1911
Tis the season for graduation parties, gatherings, and gestures. It's a wonderful time for encouraging young adults in their next endeavors. In their calling. In their dreams. In their tomorrow. And in their faith.
But as I sat and wrote out a few cards for graduates and their upcoming celebrations, I realized that the advice and Bible verses that God was laying on my heart for the grads were not just for graduates.
Yes, graduates are (forced) to think about "what's next", because their previous way of life (high school or college) has ended. They must make choices and move into what's next for their lives, because something is next...but they must just discern what it is.
And the advice/wisdom/insight that I found myself writing in graduation cards is good advice/wisdom/insight for me also, and for you too.
God has great plans for you! Talk to Him (prayer)and listen for Him, and read His Word (the Bible) to find out what those plans are. He is always with you and He loves you very much!...
But this "advice" isn't actually mine to give...because I got it from God. These sentiments are an alteration (and understanding) of God's sentiments that He speaks to His children (first: the Israelites, and now: all of us) in the book of Jeremiah.
God gave these verses to all of His children. And so, as I wrote these Bible verses in graduation cards for some recent grads, I realized afresh that these Scriptures were not just for graduates: they are for us too:
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
(12) Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
(13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." ~Jeremiah 29:11-13

God gave these verses to all of His children.
Today is a wonderful time for encouraging (not just graduates) but every single one of us in our next endeavors. In our calling. In our dreams. In our tomorrow. In our today. And in our faith.
Regardless of where we are in life: just finishing something, just beginning something, in the fight-of-our-life, birthing a dream/baby/business/goal, young-and-inexperienced or old-and-seasoned-by-life: no matter what we are facing and experiencing today: Jeremiah 29:11-13 is fitting for us today.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 speaks to our situation today.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 whispers God's Truth for God's direction into our ears today.
The advice and Bible verses that God is laying on our hearts...are for us!
God has great plans for you!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
Talk to Him (prayer) and listen for Him, and read His Word (the Bible) to find out what those plans are.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ~Jeremiah 29:12-13
He is always with you...
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. ~Matthew 28:20
and He loves you very much!...
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

Yes, graduates are (forced) to think about "what's next", but we can too. A healthy relationship with the Lord is not stagnant, it is always moving forward. If we are alive in Christ (and He wants us to be!), then we must make choices and move into what God has next in our lives, because something is next...but we must discern what it is.
And (spoiler alert!): it's good. It's to prosper us and not to harm us. It's to give us a hope and a future.
And these truths of God are something we will never graduate from. He has written us a note today:
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (12) Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." ~Jeremiah 29:11-13
