But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lordfor the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good.  ~Psalm 109:21

Psalm 109 begins with the author telling of (wicked) people coming against him and wishing him unwell.

Can any of us identify?

Sure we can.  We all have people who are thorns-in-our-sides sometimes.

Is God seeing-our-situation when His Word speaks of:

(2) ...the wicked slander me and tell lies about me.

(3) They surround me with hateful words and fight against me for no reason. (4) I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations even as I am praying for them!...

...(8) (They say) Let his years be few; let someone else take his position.

(12) Let no one be kind to him... ~Psalm 109:2-4, 8, 12

Can we identify with people coming against us today?

The Lord knows the conversations and intentions and attacks that swirl in our lives and in our minds...and He speaks His Truth into our battles today.

We may identify with the accusations from others, but we can also identify with belonging to the Lord.

Who-God-is in our life holds (much!) more power than the accusations of those who come against us.

Psalm 109 breathes life and hope and protection into us and over us today.  It is a message sent directly to us from our Heavenly Father, and we can pray Psalm 109 right back to God today:

But deal well with me, O Sovereign Lordfor the sake of your own reputation! Rescue me because you are so faithful and good.  ~Psalm 109:21

Not because of us, Lord, but because of You!

We haven't earned anything, but because we are identified by You and in You...for the sake of your own reputation...deal well with us today, Lord.  Please.

~~~
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is full of pain. (23) I am fading like a shadow at dusk; I am brushed off like a locust...
(26) Help me, O Lord my God! Save me because of your unfailing love. (27) Let them see that this is your doing, that you yourself have done it, Lord.   ~Psalm 109:22-23, 26-27
We are weak, but You are strong, O Lord.
Because we identify with Jesus Christ and God the Father...we have their stamp and seal over our hearts and lives.  We will have accusers, but we will also have the (daily and eternal) victory in Christ.
Let them see that anything good in us and our lives...is You and Your doing.
Let them see that this is your doing, that you yourself have done it, Lord.   ~Psalm 109:27
Let them see that this is your doing...Lord.   ~Psalm 109:27
Let them see that this (marriage) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (child) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (family) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (business) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (do-good effort) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (donation/tithe/gift) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (daily/routine/mundane-but-required task) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (act of humility) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (perseverance through trial) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that this (victory/honor/blessing) is your doing...Lord.
Let them see that WE are your doing...Lord.
~~~

Let them see that all that is well in our lives is your doing, Lord.  And although accusations and trials and even persecution comes to us, we identify with You, and we will have victory in You!  And so, we give thanks to You, Lord.

Then let them curse me if they like, but you will bless me! When they attack me, they will be disgraced! But I, your servant, will go right on rejoicing!

(29) May my accusers be clothed with disgrace; may their humiliation cover them like a cloak.

(30) But I will give repeated thanks to the Lordpraising him to everyone. (31) For he stands beside the needy, ready to save them from those who condemn them.  ~Psalm 109:28-31

Amen, Lord.  Sure, we will have those that come against us and that go against us, but our identity is in You, Father!  We will be saved by You and defined by You, Lord.  And when they see us rise up from the trials and temptations and tough parts of life: Let them see that this is your doing, that you yourself have done it, Lord (Psalm 109:27).

Blessings,
