Ezekiel Chapter 33

Step up today.  Be bold today.  Speak to someone about Jesus today!

We must do our job of sounding the alarm for You, God.

People will choose their own way...but our responsibility is to share Your Truth and to give Your message.  We must.

“Son of man, give your people this message..."  ~Ezekiel 33:2

We are God's sons and daughters here on earth.  His Word (the Bible) is speaking to us today.  We must give our people this messageGod's message.

Once again a message came to me from the Lord: (2) “Son of man, give your people this message: ‘When I bring an army against a country, the people of that land choose one of their own to be a watchman. (3) When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people.  ~Ezekiel 33:1-3

I don't know about you, but I see the enemy coming.  We have to sound the alarm to warn the people.

And their next steps/their acceptance or refusal/the rest is up to them.  But our job (as watchmen sounding the alarm) remains the same.

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. (4) Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. (5) They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives.  ~Ezekiel 33:4-5

I know (and pray for) those in my life that have been introduced-to (or even know) God, and yet they refuse to take action.

There is an excitement in sharing Christ with those that have an open heart and mind to Him...but the apathy or closed-door of those who hear the alarm and refuse to take action...well, that is hard to swallow and painful to experience repeatedly.  Mostly, because (Scripture says that) our God-choices have eternal consequences: ...it is their own fault if they die. (5)They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives (Ezekiel 33:4-5).

Our acceptance of Jesus as King over our hearts and lives is a personal decision that each of us must make.  That's up to them.

But sounding the alarm...now that's up to us.

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people.  ~Ezekiel 33:3

Are we sounding the alarm for others to know God today?

We see the enemy coming, but maybe instead of sounding the alarm, we are too busy getting comfortable.

Are we caring about the affairs and riches and pleasures of this world and our life today?

The enemy is not only coming...he is here.  And if comforts and pleasures and treasures and ourselves are only concerns today, God is sounding the alarm to warn the people.

We are here today and gone tomorrow.  Have we lost a loved one to death lately?  If not...or even if so:  wait a little while...the death of someone else is coming.  Our death is coming.  For all of us, death is gaining on us, not the other way around.

And so (for our eternal sake, and for the sake of other's eternities:)--what are we doing with our today? If we are not actively living/loving/believing/and serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...then hear the alarm that the Bible (God!) is sounding today.

This is not a metaphor.  This is us.

When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people.  ~Ezekiel 33:3

~~~
Are we sounding the alarm for others to know God today?
Because...I don't want to be held responsible for the captivity and deaths of other people.
Do you?
But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’   ~Ezekiel 33:6
I am not going to be the one not-fulfilling my role in God's army.  And don't you be the one not-fulfilling your role in God's army.
God says it clearly: to Ezekiel first, and then to us today: His heart is for every man, woman, and child to live eternally with Him.  But the choice is ours.
As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die?  ~Ezekiel 33:11
Lord, please don't hold me responsible for their deaths.  Make me bold in sounding the alarm to warn the people for You today my Lord.  Amen.
(7) “Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me.  ~Ezekiel 33:1-7
