It's been raining a lot near me lately. When the drizzles and downpours don't seem to cease, it's easy to get a dampened vision of the world outside...and inside (of ourselves) too.
Rain, rain...go away.
A wet gloom can seem to settle not only on the earth, but on our hearts as well when the skies are grey and wet for a while.
Rain can ruin the best laid plans, but as I looked out the window, I also felt a surge in my spirit. There were raindrops on the screen, but beyond it I could see the reality of what is stayed and true. The trees are still green, and I know the sun will still rise and set once again in perfect rhythm, and God is still good and sovereign and powerful, even when there are raindrops on our lens of life.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; (23) they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ~Lamentations 3:22-23
The rain falls. The storms come. The winds blow. But our house is built on the solid rock of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we are going to be okay today, rain or no rain.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. (25) The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. ~Matthew 7:24-25
Yes, we will get wet and even drenched in the drip, drip, drip of this world and its woes, and sometimes we will get our feet swept out from under us in life's undertow. But this (often damp and dreary) world is not our home. We are just passing though, on our way to a place where the Son always shines and the only rain is the reign of our Mighty God.
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb (2) down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. (3) No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. (4) They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. (5) There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. ~Revelation 22:1-5

Is it raining in our corner of the world today? Is it raining in our spirit? Let's not let the outside weather or the world's circumstances dampen our faith or spiritual resolve today.
Peer out and through the raindrops of life today. Our Lord is visible and palpable and near. We will not be shaken.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. (9) Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure... (11) You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. ~Psalm 16:8-9, 11
