What is our worst fear? 

     Spiders? 

     Cockroaches. 

     Storms? 

     Poverty?

But...what if we have gotten life and its point all wrong?

Wouldn't that be scary?

What if we've spent our lives striving and spending for comfort, and all that God wanted was sacrifice? 

What if we have always wanted people to see our status and wealth and stuff? 

And what if we thought no one saw how we cut corners, and cheated others along our way to worldly success? 

What if we have been living all wrong, and God is exposing us through His Word? 

That's one of my worst fears.

Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. (2) Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. (3) Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment. (4) For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.  

(5) You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. (6) You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you.  

(7) Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. (8) You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near. ~James 5:1-8

What's our worst fear? 

Mixing up the point of our existence here on Earth?  (Here's a hint...our goal is not US, it's God and glorifying Him.) 

We don't want to get it all wrong, but good news: we have today, and that means that we still have time. 

The coming of the Lord is near.  Let's be ready. Even if we've done it all wrong before today, we can get right with our Savior today.

If our worst fear is not living our lives correctly for the Lord, then let's take it one day at a time...and let's begin today.

Then we will have nothing to fear.

I'm ashamed to admit that when I was younger, I used to read my horoscope daily.  I would look forward to opening the newspaper and "finding out what kind of day I was going to have".   Thankfully, I have matured in my wisdom and my relationship to the Bible and with Jesus Christ enough to know that depending on a horoscope to define my day is malarkey! I'm embarrassed that I ever looked to such nonsense to  try and make sense  of my days and my life. Lord, we know (by Your Word) that we must be still before you: Be still and know that I am God.  ~Psalm 46:10 .   Lord, we know that you often do not  present yourself in the excitement, the noise, or in the rumble:   “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the  Lord  told him. And as Elijah stood there, the  Lord  passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the  Lord  was not in the wind . After the wind there was an earthquake, but the  Lord  was not in the earthquake .  ( 12)  And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the  Lord  was not in the fire . The Spring is bringing wet, soggy days and bright, promising ones too--and I'm not just talking about the weather.   Our minds and our spirits can get dampened too.  The clouds of worry, stress and fear can hover over us, darkening our temperament, and our clarity too.  The rains of pain, anxiety and sorrow can soak us to the bone some days.  Not to mention downpours of depression and even paranoia, with and without indication or cause.  And then, even after the waters of trauma recede, that sogginess still sits within us.   Yes--the showers and storms of life can water-log our hearts and faith , and leave us in shambles.   The thought of my suffering and homelessness  is bitter beyond words.  ( 20)  I will never forget this awful time...    ( 21)  Yet I still dare to hope  when I remember this: ( 22)  The faithful love of the  Lord  never ends!   His mercies never cease....
