I'm not righteous, Lord.  You know that.  

My husband is righteous.  Our children are righteous.  And You are righteous most of all, Father. 
Hear our prayer today anyway.  

The earnest prayer of a righteous person....has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16

Lord, we are praying earnestly to you today.  Please bless our livelihoods and our neighborhoods and our "shoulds".  
Show us Your ways, and help us to walk in them today, Lord.  Provide for us, Lord, in your omniscient ways.  Amen.

We know that we are not righteous, but we are praying to You anyway, Heavenly Father.  You are holy and merciful and forgiving.  Hear our prayer.

...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  ~II Chronicles 7:14

Oh, that You would hear from Heaven, Almighty Lord.  So many voices cry out to you, Father--why should our voice (and prayers) have any importance at all?  

Because You say that it does.  You say that we matter to You, Father.  You have chosen us, and we are Yours.

  • But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.  ~Isaiah 43:1
  • You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.  ~John 15:16

Because of what You say about us, we come to you, Father.  We do not have righteousness of our own merit, but You say that the righteousness of Your Son, Jesus Christ, covers us.

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.  ~I Corinthians 1:30

Righteousness of our own accord we lack, but earnestness we bring in full measure before You today Lord.  We call to You, Father.  We cry out to You. 
We praise You in earnest, our King.  You alone rule our hearts and  our days.  Produce wonderful results for us and from us today, Lord.  This is our prayer.
Amen.

I'm ashamed to admit that when I was younger, I used to read my horoscope daily.  I would look forward to opening the newspaper and "finding out what kind of day I was going to have".   Thankfully, I have matured in my wisdom and my relationship to the Bible and with Jesus Christ enough to know that depending on a horoscope to define my day is malarkey! I'm embarrassed that I ever looked to such nonsense to  try and make sense  of my days and my life. Lord, we know (by Your Word) that we must be still before you: Be still and know that I am God.  ~Psalm 46:10 .   Lord, we know that you often do not  present yourself in the excitement, the noise, or in the rumble:   “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the  Lord  told him. And as Elijah stood there, the  Lord  passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the  Lord  was not in the wind . The Spring is bringing wet, soggy days and bright, promising ones too--and I'm not just talking about the weather.   Our minds and our spirits can get dampened too.  The clouds of worry, stress and fear can hover over us, darkening our temperament, and our clarity too.  The rains of pain, anxiety and sorrow can soak us to the bone some days.  Not to mention downpours of depression and even paranoia, with and without indication or cause.  And then, even after the waters of trauma recede, that sogginess still sits within us.   Yes--the showers and storms of life can water-log our hearts and faith , and leave us in shambles.   The thought of my suffering and homelessness  is bitter beyond words.  ( 20)  I will never forget this awful time...    ( 21)  Yet I still dare to hope  when I remember this: ( 22)  The faithful love of the  Lord  never ends!   His mercies never cease....
