Corona Devo 2063

We've had some interesting occurrences in our house and hearts this week, and it has caused a reaction: of prayer.

For various reasons, from jittery-legs, to crazy dreams, to insomnia...I think we went about a week without my husband getting a night's rest.

And then one evening our fire alarm blared...for three beeps, and then ceased.  Our fire alarm has gone-off before, but the beeps are usually incessant and unyielding until a battery is removed, or the whole darn device is taken down.  But never (never) have we experienced three beeps and then silence.

And don't forget the morning earlier this week when I came downstairs at 5:30 AM to begin my day in the quiet house while the rest of my family still slept, but...on this morning the house wasn't quiet.  Our  basement television was turned on and blaring loudly up the stairs.

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:114

In life's trials and attacks, we can hold God's Word up over us.  During the firestorms of faith, we can cower beneath the shield of God's Truth and His Word: frightened, but faithful.

And when we are weak, we can pray God's promises in sheer willpower...and He is here.

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:114

Do we feel under fire today?  Are we in the cloud of something that's not Christ...hovering above our heads or sitting on our chest?

When we feel/sense/experience spiritual resistance: we can reach for the Lord...we can hide behind Him...or we can just be held by Him.

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:114

Our refuge is our safe place and our hiding place...and this is who our Lord is to us.

You are my refuge and my shield..  ~Psalm 119:114.

In both the darkness of night, and darkness of attack: He is our refuge and shield and our source of hope (Psalm 119:114).

We can literally pray-His-Name for protection: Jesus.
...Or His titles: King of kings...Lord of lords...
and we will be okay, because He is in command.

They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”  ~Revelations 17:14

...Your Word is my source of hope.   ~Psalm 119:114

In one moment, we feel desperation and we reach for God's instruction, provision and peace during it.

We can hold God's Word over us today as a shield.  He protects us in the war between light and darkness.  Even in the struggle, we can rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father: He is our refuge.

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:114

In another moment...sweet gratitude.  Relief.  Testimony.

Are we exhaling in spiritual relief, joy, and an awareness of all that God has just brought-us-through, and all that He has done?  (He has done it!!)

Do we stand in victory today--holding God's Word (His shield) over our heads and hearts in gratitude?

...but I love your instructions.  You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:113-114

Which side are we on today?  These verses serve (and protect) us in both the struggle, and in the sweetness of peace.

God's instruction is for both.

...but I love your instructions.  You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:113-114

And these very same verses that are a prayer of fortitude and even a prayer of desperation during our trials...   These very same prayers turn to praises after the storm.  We can pray them all over again...but in gratitude this time:

...but I love your instructions.  You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:113-114

He is our refuge and shield.

And then one morning later in the week...my husband slept.  And when he awoke, he said that his body, mind and soul felt like a new man.  Felt free.  He said he could sense God's nearness.

And...we haven't had any more weird house-occurances (except for two teenagers).

The cloud has lifted.  The victory has come.  The Refuge has provided refuge.  The Shield has shielded.  And God's word has been our source of hope.

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.  ~Psalm 119:114

Faith firestorm, or gales of gratefulness: God is our refuge and shield and our source of hope throughout all of it.

Blessings,
