One of the things that I love about spring is watching the daffodils spring up.  Out of recently frozen ground, they push forward and shine their golden blooms, welcoming the warmer temperatures and spring thaws.

And then look out(!) when the Summer blooms pop out!  Rainbows of blossoming zinnias, petunias, daisies and irises cover Summer yards and flower beds.

But the cooler temps of Fall bring the culling of gardens and the death of late Summer blooms and harvests.  Leaves change colors and then droop, dry, and drop.

While many flowering plants have seen their glory days and are fading by now...this is not true for all.   I came upon a bed of happy and thriving snapdragon blossoms that were in their prime today.

Let's be in our prime today for Christ.  Shine for Him.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (16) In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  ~Matthew 6:14-16

Stand tall and be brave and vibrant in God's name and for His glory today.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. (11) Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. (12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (13) Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  ~Ephesians 6:10-13

We all go through difficult seasons, and maybe we've been in one of quiet mourning, or intense (physical/emotional/spiritual) pain.

Lord, help us let the past fade, and may a new day dawn for us IN YOU today and with You.  If we have experienced the loss or death of a stage-of-life, a dream, or someone close to us...please comfort us in this loss and encourage us in our will to LIVE instead of DIE today.  And may we do so with You as our catalyst and our fuel.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).  Be close to us today, Father, and save us.  Make us willing to unfold and unfurl our hearts and our lives for You today.  Amen

Decide to be a snapdragon for the divine today.  Anyone can bloom in the warmth and sunshine of fair weather, but it takes a hearty soul and a strong faith to blossom in the chill-of-life and less-than-ideal conditions.  Let's defy the odds today and bloom for our Lord and Savior.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”  ~Joshua 24:15

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (32) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

(33) Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. (34) Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

(35) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? (36) As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

(37) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  ~Romans 8:31-39

Snapdragons are a bright and cheery flower that have the strength to withstand the chillier temperatures of Fall.  Let's be snapdragons today!  The world has enough dried-out specimens and wilting whiners.  But it's a joy to encounter someone blooming where they are planted, and the Holy Spirit gives us that ability and opportunity today.  Christ lives within every heart that invites Him to, and with Him, we can thrive when others might dive.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.  ~Philippians 4:13
