Sometimes I will ask a question outloud to our children...and no one will answer.

It's not often, but it does happen.  They can be sitting in the next room, but they can also be in the same room or in the same car, and no one responds.  They simply don't hear me.

Either lost in concentration on studies, focused on the TV or a screen, or ears plugged with music: sometimes there is literally no recognition or response when I ask a question or make a request.

This is not so (ever) with our Heavenly Father.

Did we know that the Bible says that the moment you began praying, a command was given (Daniel 9:23).

He hears us, Brothers and Sisters in Christ!  God always hears our prayers (our "talking" to Him), and He never is lost in concentration on other things.  Our Lord is always focused on us.  And His ears are never plugged.

Why?  And how do we know that God hears us when we talk and pray and cry and call to Him?
Because the Bible tells us so.

  • In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help.  From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.  ~Psalm 18:6
  • But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.  ~Luke 1:13
  • “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.  ~2 Kings 20:5

Another example in the Bible of God hearing a prayer that was prayed was with Daniel.

Look at what Daniel was doing: praying and confessing his sin and the sin of his people.

We are sinful.  If we have invited Jesus into our hearts, and trusted Him as our Savior, then we are saved, and we are forgiven.  But (alas and alack) we are still (very much) sinful.  Prayer and confession are important for us to understand the importance of.  And also the value of: to God.  Our prayers and confessions are a portal to the heart and ways of God.

When does God hear our prayers?

The moment you began praying, a command was given.  ~Daniel 9:23

God's ears are not plugged with headphones, earbuds, or ear wax.  His divine concentration and attention are not elsewhere.  Our Lord is attentive to us when we pray and confess to Him.  Why?  God tells Daniel.  (And God tells us.)
And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God.  ~Daniel 9:23

Press "replay" on that truth from the Bible today: You are very precious to God (Daniel 9:23).

Some of us needed to hear that today.

God brought all of us right here, right now to remind us of that today.

...you are very precious to God.  ~Daniel 9:23

God hears us, Y'All!

Have we been praying the same prayer for days, weeks...years?
God is aware and He is working, and we are very precious to Him.

Don't miss the reminders that God's Word pins-up on our spiritual bulletin board today:

  1. God is listening (immediately) as we pray and confess to him.
  2. We are very precious to God.
Pray and confess to the Lord today.  For ourselves and for our people.
I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people, pleading with the Lord my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain.   ~Daniel 9:20

God hears us.  Unlike people who get distracted or unfocused, the Lord's love and attention is always on us.

And (can we ever hear it enough?): We are precious to him.  Very precious.

Feel like nobody listens to you?  God does!  God is.

Pray and confess to Him today.

In fact, the moment you began praying, the command was given... (Daniel 9:23).

So...pray.  And we can know that we are (immediately) heard by Heavenly ears.

I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people, pleading with the Lord my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain. (21) As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice. (22) He explained to me, “Daniel, I have come here to give you insight and understanding. (23) The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God...  ~Daniel 9:20-23
