Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.  ~Proverbs 28:27

Look for the poor one today...and give to them...

Give of our time, our talents, our extras...and of ourselves.  Give the love of Christ to the poor today.

Give to the (spiritually/physically/financially/emotionally) poor today.  Let's see their need...and meet it.  Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing... (Proverbs 28:27).

Give a hug to someone that is lonely and poor in community today.

Give a visit to someone who is relationally poor and without friends or family today.
Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing... (Proverbs 28:27).

Be (give) family to someone who is family-poor today.  Speak with them, invite them over.  Invite yourself over.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  ~Acts 1:8

How do we witness and give to the poor in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth?

Is it possible?

Absolutely, just ask my girlfriend who runs a huge ministry at her church for giving to the poor though food for the holidays.  She, and many other volunteers have been very busy collecting turkeys and all the sides and dessert items for families in Cleveland, in our city, and in our county in order to give to the poor for Thanksgiving.

She told me "It's a 35-year tradition that was originally started to collect and take turkeys to a hunger center in downtown Cleveland.  And now we provide over 100 turkeys and full meals to a parish/church on the west side of Cleveland, and in addition, we pass out over fifty turkeys and meal fixings and gift cards to people in our own church as well.  Most people pick everything up at the church, but we make home deliveries too.  Everything is donated, packed, and caravaned to be delivered by church members to those who need it" (the poor).
(Want to help?  Let me know and I will give you more information.)

Food for the poorYes.  But can we also give to the poor...joy?

Absolutely.

Ask Franklin Graham who manages the Nation-wide ministry of 'Samaritan's Purse', which sends (donated) gift-filled 'Operation Christmas Child' shoe boxes around the world to children in need together with the Gospel of Jesus Christ (http://www.samaritanspurse.org ).

Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing...  ~Proverbs 28:27

Can giving small toys, school supplies and jump ropes really make a difference?  It can when the gifts are coupled with the gift of the Good News of Jesus Christ (the Gospel).  And that's just what Operation Christmas child does.  Just ask the thousands of people who are packing boxes this week to send to poor children across the world.

My sister helps run the ministry in her church and they gave 127 Operation Christmas Child boxes-of-joy to the poor last week.

Give to the poor
today.  By meal, by box, by prayer, by hug: give to the poor today.

God says in His Word for us to give to the poor.

What else does He say?

Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing...  ~Proverbs 28:27

Whoever gives... Will lack nothing.  Interested?

I am.  I want to give to the poor because I am a follower of Christ...and He gave to the poor.

But I also want to give to the poor because I am human, and God's promises and consequences concerning our efforts with the poor are real, and God's reality could be frightening if we are not obeying.

...but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.  ~Proverbs 28:27

Who is poor before us today?

See the poor today.

Give to the poor today.

Blessings,
