Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  ~Ephesians 4:3

~~~
Gravy is something I always took for granted on the Thanksgiving table, and at any meal that we enjoyed it.  There was just magically always a bowl or boat or small pitcher of it available to pour over mashed potatoes and turkey.  I also don't mind gravy over my stuffing, how about you?  Also, I even like gravy on my corn, green beans and I don;t mind it drizzled on a roll as well.
Gravy seems to pair well with just about everything on a Thanksgiving plate. Gravy ties the flavors of everything else together, while at the same time enhancing their differences.  Covering things, but not muffling their unique contribution to the savory feast: gravy goes all-in and performs a beautiful connecting medley on the plate.  Thanksgiving without gravy wouldn't be half as smooth and tasty, or well-melded.
Be the gravy today.
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.  ~Hebrews 12:14
In a large group and in small gatherings too, it can be easy to realize how different we are (in opinion/taste/politics/religion/upbringing/values/etc.) from others gathered at the table, but just as gravy allows other dishes to be themselves, but gets poured-over to bring out the best flavor in everything...may it be so of us today, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may we seek to blend others together today, following the example of Christ.  Dissention is easy, but creating community is a deliberate choice.
Let's pour on the love of the Lord to others today.
Let's meld-together different tastes instead of spitting them out.
Let's live and love like Jesus today.
There will always be the opportunity to disagree, to disconnect, and to disparage, but instead, let's be the gravy today.
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.  ~Romans 4:8
Gravy is a connector--it covers everything, and it helps flavors blend instead of separate.
Whether gravy wants to or not...it betters the meal.
If we have invited Jesus into our hearts and lives, then (Ready or not!), we have a higher calling on our life and a narrow road to walk.  ...And an edifying way to talk.
Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. (6) Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.  ~Colossians 4:5-6
Father, watch over our hearts and tongues today and may our conversation be gracious and attractive so that we will have the right response for everyone.  Help us to be Your ambassadors, Lord.  Amen.
Be the gravy today.
We can't take an attitude of grace and love for granted.  Just as a gravy boat is filled by someone who made the gravy...we too need to be filled with God's gravy.  The Bible has all of the ingredients that we need to think/react/speak/love like the Lord as we move through our day and as we encounter people (friends and family) of all types.
And if we read God's Word with the spirit of the Lord flowing through us, then we will be like the Lord.  We will pair-well with anyone, because we are walking in love and truth, and these qualities are very difficult to refuse.  Our natural reaction is to cling to the beauty of God and His characteristics: We desire them.
May others find us desirable today.  Our speech, our attitude, our demeanor, and most importantly: our faith.
Be the gravy today.  And may others clearly understand that it is the Lord who filled us up.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.  ~Philippians 4:9
Praying life and peace over your day today.
  • So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.  ~Romans 8:6
  • Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.  ~James 3:18
  • Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.  ~Psalm 34:14
  • Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  ~Ephesians 4:3
Be the gravy today.  Over everything on our plate...and everyone.
  • See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.  ~I Thessalonians 5:15
