Corona Devo 3030

Aaaahhhh, the year in review.  
Are we looking back in gratitude?  We should.

So many blessings over the past twelve months: count them.  
So many good people, relations, memories: remember them.  
A plethora of positive situations, circumstances and outcomes: Praise God for them.  

  • I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.  Psalm 86:12 
  • Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.  ~I Chronicles 16:34

Heavenly Father...Good, good Father: we are humbled at Your great love and grand blessing over our lives and hearts.  We deserve...nothing, and yet life-in-You is EVERYTHING.  The fullness that you provide is life-changing and gratitude-inducing.  We praise You, Lord, and we thank you, Father.  Your hand has been upon us this year and we are so grateful to You for all of the blessing and bounty that You have provided to us.  Amen.

Aaaahhhh, the year in review.  
Are we looking back in humility?  We should.

For every consequence that we did not incur, Lord: Thank You for Your mercy and grace.
For Your holiness bending low to meet with our humanity: we are grateful for Your presence and grace in our lives and hearts over the past year.

  • He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.  ~Micah 6:8
  • Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. (3) He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.  ~Deuteronomy 8:2-3

Holy Father, we are humbled that You chose us, and that you stay present with us.  We deserve the penalty, but we praise You for Your peace instead.  Thank You.  Amen.

Aaaahhhh, the year in review.  
Are we looking back in remorse?  We should.

Even when we try to be good...we are bad, Lord.  Forgive us.  

We pay homage to You with our words, Lord, but then we sin.  Again and again...and all year long...we fall short of Your glory.  

We are so sorry, Father.  Forgive us.  Amen.  

  • ...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...  ~Romans 3:23
  • Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. (2) Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. (3) For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. (4) Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.   ~Psalm 51:1-4

We are so sorry, Father.  Forgive us.  Amen.

Aaaahhhh, the year in review.  
Are we looking back in hopefulness of God's forgiveness?  We should.

God created us.  He sees us.  He loves us.  He is completely aware of our sin and He forgives us.

  • ...as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.  ~Psalm 103:12
  • Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. (8) Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. (9) Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. (10) Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  ~~Psalm 51:7-10

Righteous Lord, Your mercy is amazing and baffling...and we accept.  We praise You for Your love and mercy and forgiveness.  We know what we've done over the past year, and it makes our gratitude for Your grace great.  Amen.

Aaaahhhh, the year in review.  

We serve a holy, loving, righteous, fair, forgiving, Almighty God.  
And we should.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  ~Deuteronomy 6:5

It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.   And--it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord.   Do we GET IT?   King Hezekiah GOT IT.   The people in his area (Israel) had not been following the Lord, and they had fallen away from the (God-ordained) traditions that the Lord had designed to connect His people with Himself,  like going to church (Temple), and like celebrating the festival of Passover.  So they sent a proclamation throughout all Israel...inviting everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the  Lord , the God of Israel. The people had not been celebrating it in great numbers as required in the Law ( 2 Chronicles 30:5). Hezekiah  invited the people back to church!  But how to get the word out? He  wrote letters of invitation to the people (2 Chronicles 30:1), but letters without delivery are dead messages.  Hezekiah needed to get the letters ... to God's people! Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything. How are we responding to that glorious Truth today?   Can we praise Him today?  Can we acknowledge and absorb (and respond!) to the awesome Truth that we belong to Him :  the Creator of all things, and our Creator?   He laid the earth’s foundation ...and (even)  the earth  knows that it belongs to him ...
