Let's just stop whatever (else) we are doing right now.
Sit down.
Sit still.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God"...  ~Psalm 46:10

Let's open the Bible today: God's Word written to us...for us.

Lord, we do not want to take this privilege (of meeting with You) for granted.
Lord, we do not want to take the power of connecting-with-You and reading-Your-Word for granted.
We seek You today, we thirst for You today.  We long for You today, Lord.

(1) O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
(2) So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.
(3) Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.
(4) Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
(5) My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.  ~Psalm 63:1-5

If we will make the time and create the (mental/physical/spiritual) space to be alone with You and in prayer with You...and if we will be open to Your Word and Your Law and Your direction, Lord...then You will meet us.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  ~Jeremiah 29:13

This time with You, this appointment together today is Your desire, Father.
May this time together today and now be our desire also, and the blessing (and outcomes) of our time together is also our desire today.

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. (24) You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. (25) Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you. (26) My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  ~Psalm 73:23-26

Sitting alone with You, Lord.

Hearing from you, Father.

Being taught, loved, accepted, and directed by You and Your Word, Lord: it is too precious to miss out on today.

  • In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  ~Proverbs 3:6
  • Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (9) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  ~Joshua 1:8-9

Lord, don't let us rush it with You today.  What is our hurry?  And to get to what?
Our most valuable investment of time today will be spent with the One who considers us invaluable.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere...  ~Psalm 84:10

~~~
Lord, we seek You today, and we slow our roll to draw near to You today.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.   ~James 4:8
~~~

Father, we don't take this privilege lightly.  ...That we can open Your Word and open the door to connection with You.  To conversation with You.  To communion with You.

Please don't let us rush it.  Minimize it.  De-prioritize it.  Miss it.
Thank You for meeting us right here and right now, Almighty God and Heavenly Father.
Thank You for spending time with us, and for listening.
We are stopping now, stilling now, praying now...that we might hear Your voice.  We know that You hear ours.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
(4) For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. (5) The arrogant cannot stand in your presence.
You hate all who do wrong; (6) you destroy those who tell lies...
(7) But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
(8) Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness   ~Psalm 5:3-8
