Corona Devo 3118

God’s Word to us rings true for us on the easy, blessed, full days.  

And God’s Word rings true for us on the harried, heavy, empty days.  

Which is it for us today?  

And...either way: drape Psalm 62 over us like a shawl over our shoulders and a shield over our heart.  God gives us His Word today. 

Psalm 62

(1) Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. 

(2) Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken... 

(5) Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. 

(6) Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. 

(7) My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 

(8) Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.  ~Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8

Yes, Lord!!!  Amen, Lord!!! Truly my soul finds rest in You today, God.  My salvation comes from You and You knew that we needed reminded of this today.   
Help us to rest in You today...beginning with Your Word right now.

Lord, You amaze me.  You speak strength and stability into us today: right now and right here wherever we are. 

But You know where I am today: in the rock.  Surrounded by fortresses of your design, and (for me today): proof of the timeliness of Your Word in daily application to our lives.

     

We need a rock to lean on and stabilize us: it is You, Lord.

We have nothing if we have not Your salvation: and Your offer it to everyone.

Nothing else in this world provides a true fortress from the toils and snares of this world: except You, Lord.

No sir, we won't be shaken today.

Can we trust that You are our rock today?  

We truly can.

You give us Your Word, and You show us Your Word, Almighty Father.  You are powerful in Your daily presence to us.  

Whether we are up today, or down today...You are here with us today, Father, and we can find rest in You today.  Our hope comes from You!

We will rest in You today, Father.  You speak rest and peace over us, and we believe You.  We hope in You.  Our hope comes from You.

Joys of blessings...or tears of trauma---You are our rock and our salvation, Lord.  You are our fortress, and come what may today...we will not be shaken today.

We fall and fail and flail, and when we come to depend on anything but God, and there are so many false gods.  But there is only one God that satisfies, and our salvation and honor depend on Him.

On the mountaintop today?
Or at the bottom of the slimy pit today?
He is our mighty rock and our refuge today!

(7) My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. 

(8) Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.  ~Psalm 62:7-8

Let's wrap God's Word around us today.  Let's wrap ourminds around how much He loves us and that He is our rock.  

He might even provide a visual aid for remnder.

It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.   And--it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord.   Do we GET IT?   King Hezekiah GOT IT.   The people in his area (Israel) had not been following the Lord, and they had fallen away from the (God-ordained) traditions that the Lord had designed to connect His people with Himself,  like going to church (Temple), and like celebrating the festival of Passover.  So they sent a proclamation throughout all Israel...inviting everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the  Lord , the God of Israel. Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything. How are we responding to that glorious Truth today?   Can we praise Him today?  Can we acknowledge and absorb (and respond!) to the awesome Truth that we belong to Him :  the Creator of all things, and our Creator?   He laid the earth’s foundation ...and (even)  the earth  knows that it belongs to him ...
