I was visting with a cousin the other day who loves to fish. He lives in a different part of the country than me, and so we catch and we eat different fish. Around me (in Lake Erie), walleye is my favorite fish to enjoy.
Light, mild, clean and crisp...it is a delicious fish to eat, and we have told our cousin about it, and he has wanted to try it for years.
Chatting with him the other day, he said he finally
had!
I was so happy for him, and he was jubilant to report to me about finally tasting and enjoying walleye.
I wasn't sure how he got walleye in his
(faraway from walleye) state, but then he said that he had ordered it at a
fastfood restaurant in town as a fish sandwich recently. My shared
joy-in-his-tasting-walleye disappeared.
A square fish filet at a chain restaurant is not real and
authentic, all-the-way walleye (if you ask me). (No offense to fast food
restaurants providing fish sandwiches.)
With real walleye, there's almost no taste to it, because the fish is so mild and light. With real walleye I don't need tartar sauce and I almost don't even need the juice of a lemon over it.
It is that good all by itself. That delicious
and pure in it’s simplest form.
And that kind of walleye is not what is on the
bun at a fast food chain. One is not like the other.

Please friends, let's not settle for an imitation faith in
Christ, or a replica relationship with the Lord.
Just as a (processed) square fish filet at a chain
restaurant is not the same as catching, cleaning, and cooking up your own fresh
caught-fish:…real and authentic faith must be felt and known on
our own.
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? ~2 Corinthians 13:5
We don’t want to fail God's faith test.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ (23) Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ ~Matthew 7:21-23

Let's be confronted and convicted today to stop settling for knock-off, or as-seen-in-others faith. Knowing of God or knowing about God is not knowing God.
Our parents/grandparents/siblings/children's faith is not our faith, and (their) faith will not lead us, will not feed us, will not save us,
So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. ~Revelation 3:16
But even if our (previous) faith has been more of an attachment to someone else's faith...the day is young and God's call to us is always current.
He knows our fears and our faults, and He calls us to Him. Real and true faith begins with humility and seeing our need (and being willing to admit) that we need a Savior.
Jesus calls us to Him today:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~Matthew 11:28-30
We must decide to seek the real version of
Christ for ourselves, and we have to keep making that decision every day. Imitations and lack-luster faith are not the
same, and are not to be confused for the real thing.
But it is up to us. Do we want to taste the Lord today?
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. ~Psalm 34:8

No imposters allowed!
We want a real relationship with Jesus, and not a faith that
we simply walk through the motions of.
Truly experience Christ today…not an imitation version of
Him. Not a “light” version of Him. Not an audience-approved version of Him. Let’s seek Jesus for real and for
ourselves today.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! ~2 Corinthians 5:17

No shortcuts allowed!
Jesus in real life defines us if we will allow Him to, and if we will come to the altar and meet Him and lay ourselves before Him..then we will experience Him.
There is no substitute or compromise or knock-off for real
and true faith.
"So that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." ~I Peter 1:7
There is no substitute or compromise or knock-off for real and true faith.
Let's engage in the real thing with Christ today.
Blessings,
sarah

Personally, I think Filet-O-Fishes with buffalo sauce are great
