The other night I vacuumed, washed my floors, and cleaned out two (disgusting) sink drains that had clogged over time.  I washed and folded and put away two loads of laundry and I scrubbed out/bleached my sink, bringing it back from a dingy gray to a bright white.

Yes!  There are few feelings more fulfilling for me than knowing parts of our home are thoroughly and (if even momentarily) clean.

The dirty laundry basket will refill, the floor will get scuffed (and sticky) again, and drains will clog...but not today.  Because they have all been cleaned and cleansed and purified recently.

That's us, Friends in the Faith!

When we accept Jesus into our hearts, we are cleansed of our sins and impurities.  What was once dirty and sinful in us becomes clean and pure in us, because of Jesus.

  • So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”  ~Acts 16:31
  • “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord.   “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.  ~Isaiah 1:18

Make that choice (to trust in Jesus) today, and feel the (cleansing/peace-giving/purifying/freeing) transformation of the Holy Spirit coming in to abide with us!

“If you love me, keep my commands. (16) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—  ~John 14:15-16

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  ~John 14:26

Draw near to the Lord today, and feel His white-washing of our sin and short-comings all over again!!  His mercies are new every morning (and we need them!).

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. (23) They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  ~Lamentations 3:22-23

Stop and take the moment to imbibe of the Lord's ever-flowing living water, and (Wow!) watch-and-see, taste-and-see, submit-and-see what happens.  Our God is so good!

  • Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  ~James 4:8
  • Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.  ~Psalm 34:8
  • Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. (38) Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (39) By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.  ~John 7:37-39

And--for all of us,:life happens--and the days can dull our devotion to our Savior, and sin can come in and stain our pure-white forgiven-relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Just like a kitchen floor that has endured shoe-tracks and iced-tea-drips and cookie crumbs---we too can lose our spiritual-shine and feel dingy and in disrepair when it comes to our relationship with God.

But a dirty floor can be washed, and soiled clothes can be laundered, and we can be spiritually-refreshed and washed all-over-again in the cleansing living waters of Jesus Christ today.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  ~I John 1:9

As easy (and as immediate) as a mop to a dirty floor--is the overall (over sin) sweep of our Lord over us...when we ask Him in, to refresh our heart and soul for Him.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.  ~Psalm 51:10

God's original promises and pristine-ing of us still stand, and are available to all who ask (even if it is again...and again).

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  ~Psalm 51:7

And so, we ask today, Father.   Please forgive us our trespasses.
Vacuum up the sin-expanse that separates us from You and straighten our path and our hearts...connecting us directly to You, once again.
Wash us (again), and allow us to sense the freedom of your fresh forgiveness and the zeal of Your latest love for us.
Lord, plunge our impurities and put a shine to any dullness in our spirit.
We are seeking You today, and we trust that we will find You today!
Forgive our faults and sins and waywardness, Lord.  Refill our hearts and revive our heartbeats for You and for Your glory!
Amen.

Yes!  There are few feelings more fulfilling than knowing that we are thoroughly cleansed by our Lord and Savior.  And we are!

He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; (10) he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. (11) For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; (12) as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (13) As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him..  ~Psalm 103:9-14

We are fresh and full and forgiven today by our Lord and our Redeemer.

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.  ~Romans 6:22

Clean!!  Washed anew and free all over again, the moment we ask God.

  • Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  ~2 Corinthians 3:17
  • So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  ~John 8:38

We can apply these parallels to ourselves and to our sin, and they are (will be) true: our dirty laundry basket of sinful-slip-ups will refill, our floor of freedom-in-Christ will get scuffed (and sticky) again.  Our spiritual drain may get clogged with culture and the lies of this world...

...BUT NOT TODAY!!  Because (if we ask), God has already forgiven us anew, and we are free and clear today.  Like fingerprint-smudged appliances and worn-floors on cleaning day, we (and our sin and distance from God) have all been cleaned and cleansed and purified today.

  • Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.  ~Psalm 118:5
  • You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.  ~Romans 6:18

That's us, Friends in the Faith!

It's cleaning day, if we want it to be.
We are cleansed of our sins and impurities today by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Yes!  There are few feelings more fulfilling
  • But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, (5) that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)  ~Ephesians 2:4-5
  • “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.  For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.  ~Isaiah 60:1
