What's your sign?

Has anyone ever asked us that? Possibly in the darkness of a bar, or in the cluster of a crowd: "What's your sign?"

They might be asking about our Zodiac sign, as in: Pisces or Taurus or Saggitarius? But most likely they could care less about "our sign", and the phrase is a mere pick-up line to begin conversation that leads to other things: good or bad.

The Lord asks us through His Word today: "What's your sign?"

The Book of Revelation, Chapters 13 and 14 foretell of a time-to-come and of "signs"/names/numbers that people will wear, and it will lead to their outcome and their eternity: good or bad.

What's our faith sign?
What is our faithfulness sign?

And we do/will have a choice.

Will we choose comfort, ease, blasphemy, and immediate preservation of our life...and (in doing so), denounce the One True God and our holy Savior?

Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. (12) It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.

(13) And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people.

(14) Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

(15) The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.

(16) It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, (17) so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

(18) This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.  ~Revelation 13:11-18

What is our sign...or number?

This will one day (when we least expect) become a very important question, and it will lead to our eternal outcome: good or (very) bad.

We do not want our sign to be 666...although without it, we will not buy or sell unless we have the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name (Revelation 13:17)

What will be our sign...or number? And it will matter. It does matter.

Those that do not take the sign/mark/name of the beast will most likely (most certainly) die.

But if the Bible ever seems too heavy, or too desperate...the anecdote is to read on. Keep reading God's Word when it confuses us or scares us or doesn't make sense. Just keep reading, and God will make sense of things.

In Revelation Chapter 14, God makes sense of those who stand (and possibly die) in His name.

Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.

(2) And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps.

(3) And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.

(4) These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. (5) No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.  ~Revelation 14:1-5

We must choose now for following Christ.  When we die, it is too late.

God gives us His Word to warn and to woo us to Him.
Is it working?
What's our sign?

Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. (7) He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”  ~Revelation 14:6-7

May it be true of us, Lord.  May it be true of me, Father.
We cannot control the spiritual choices of others, but is this true of me today?:
No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.  (Revelation 14:5)
Do we “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come."
Do we "Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” (Revelation 14:7)

What if someone asked us, "What's our sign?"
Can anyone who knows us tell what our sign is?

Are we standing with the Lamb?
Is his name and his Father's name written on our forehead (Revelation 14:1).

I sure hope so.  But we don't have to "hope".

Believe.  “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me."  ~John 14:1
Look: Let's see with our mind's eye.
Listen: Let's hear what the angel flying in midair is saying.

“Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”  ~Revelation 14:7

What's our sign?
We do not have to wonder, and this is no mere pick-up line. It is a call-to-faith and a wake-up call to our lives (today) before we die (at any time).

God's Word (Revelation 13 and 14) has given us a pick-up line to begin the conversation today: "What's our sign?"

We want our answer to lead to good things...not bad.

Blessings,
