Happy Birthday, America.

So many things make me proud to live in the Nation that I do, but none more than the reason (Reason!) that our Nation was founded, established and forged: One Nation Under God.

Our founders came here from across the pond with very little, and they arrived with even less...and even fewer.
But they had a desire to live free and to worship God freely, and they were determined to not just survive...but to thrive.  The freedoms that we enjoy today are a direct result of the freedoms that they sought to establish yesterday.

We celebrate July 4th every year in the U.S.A., but much ado has been made about this year because 2026 marks the 250th birthday of the United States of America officially being unified by the document that holds us together as a Nation, and also sets us apart from any other nation: the Declaration of Independence.

Intellect, debates, review, revisions, time, and prayer went into our Declaration of Independence, and not a moment was wasted in that process of creation, conversations, deliberation, compromise, and outcome.

The men and women involved were separating from a land that they knew (England) and they were establishing an unknown, and unproven, new system of government in a land that they did not know.  But they had a confidence and a courage in this new democracy and new Nation because their foundation was on God and not themselves.

One Nation Under God.

That changed everything.  And it still does.

History proves that America's founders read the Bible, and their journals, prayers, and writings (including the Declaration of Independence!) reveal a knowledge, reverence, and a love of God and his Word.

No matter what nation we live in today, this (love and honoring) is the core of what our Lord seeks from us.
He has chosen us...will we choose Him?

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.  ~Psalm 33:12

Do we know what causes/makes/turns a nation to God?

The answer is: people turning to God.  You in your home, and in your life, and in your outreaches...and me in my home, and my life, and my outreaches.
People that turn to God get God's attention, and a nation of people seeking Him...pleases Him.

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  ~2 Chronicles 7:14

Each of us individually and personally and one-at-a-time turning to God...daily.
All to the same Savior.
Equals...one nation under God.

That's how America was started and (it's up to us: you and I) to determine if that is how our Nation finishes.

Regardless of what nation we live in, God's desire is the same for all peoples.

If we will commit to the Lord, He has already declared in His Word that He has committed to us.  Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord...and blessed will be the nation whose God is the Lord.

Nations were created by God, but He's done so much more.  People and national boundary lines are merely one of the Lord's lavish outcomes.  He is God.  And we must never forget all that He has done.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
(7) He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.
(8) Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him.
(9) For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
(10) The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
(11) But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
(12) Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.  ~Psalm 33:6-12

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

And may we celebrate our 250-Year independence with a renewed dependence on God and His Word.  May we repent of our self-willl and be tethered to God's will.

What if we prayed a prayer to God today that was fashioned after the heart of one of our Founding Fathers, and their heart for God?

Let's stir up some 250-year-old faith-in-God today!

Our Nation was built on hope and trust in the Lord, and those men and women lived and logged their faith.

In one of his journals, George Washington (the first President of the United States) prayed this....can we?

Let me live according to those holy rules which thou hast this day prescribed in thy holy word; make me to know what is acceptable in thy holy word; make me to know what is acceptable in thy sight, and therein to delight, open the eyes of my understanding, and help me thoroughly to examine myself concerning my knowledge, faith and repentance, increase my faith, and direct me to the true object Jesus Christ the way, the truth and the life, bless O Lord, all the people of this land, from the highest to the lowest, particularly those whom thou has appointed to rule over us in church & state. continue thy goodness to me this night. These weak petitions I humbly implore thee to hear accept and ans. for the sake of thy Dear Son Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
 ~George Washington, Sunday evening prayer

Prayers like these from men and women fearing the Lord are what the United States of America was founded on.

What if our Nation and all nations got serious about seeking God today?

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  ~2 Chronicles 7:14

What if we humbled ourselves today?
What if all nations prayed and sought God's face today?
What if we turned from our wicked ways today?
What would happen?

We (as Americans) know what would happen...because it has happened for the past 250 years.  We can't explain the success and blessings that have covered the U.S.A., but we must acknowledge that the Founders of our Nation held-God's-hand and deferred to His authority as they built it.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.  ~Proverbs 19:21

Happy Birthday, America.

One Nation Under God changes everything: It holds us together, and it also sets us apart.

Let's be blessed today!

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.  ~Psalm 33:6-12
