A day is coming....God says...the Bible says...the Biblical prophet Zechariah says...

When God is going to get serious.  One day soon there will be good and bad happening, and the world will know it.

Two-thirds of the people will know bad things and one-third will know good.

Some details of that day will be good.

Zechariah Chapter 13 says that on that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David...the dynasty of David...and for the people of Jerusalem.  A fountain to cleanse them from all sin and impurity

“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.  ~Zechariah 13:1

You and I are in the dynasty of David.  God speaks first to His people (the Jewish people), but in the crucifying of His one and only Son, He opened the door for all people to trust and to come to faith in the Lord, if they so choose.

We are a part of the house of David and on that day a fountain will be opened to cleanse us from all our sin and impurity.

Jesus Christ provided the payment for our sin when He was crucified (for it) on the cross.  And while we have that salvation...we (unfortunately) still keep sinning.

But on that day...

“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.  ~Zechariah 13:1

That's a good detail of "that day" for those who are with Christ, or who are coming home to Him.

But there are other details of that day that Zechariah shares...disturbing details.  Disciplining details.

For those that have falsely claimed to speak for the Lord--they will do so no longer.   And those who worship idols and blaspheme God...they will also do so no longer.

The Bible is sometimes surprising.

“On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.  ~Zechariah 13:2

The Bible can be oddly specific.

And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.’ Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.  ~Zechariah 13:3

And the Bible has always been...and will always be-- true

On that day, people will not worship gods or idols, and they will mimic and blaspheme the one true God (our Lord) no more.

The Lord still allows time for people to WAKE UP and to come to Him (The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  ~2 Peter 3:9), but on that day, He will wait no more and judgement will come.

It will be surprising and specific, and true.
No one will continue to speak false words about our Lord.

“On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. (3) And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.’ Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.  ~Zechariah 13:2-3

On that day, there will be consequence, the Bible says.  God says.  ...And Zechariah says.

And sometimes I think that we are living in that day.
The false prophets are here.
Those that mock the Lord are right here.

When people worship and champion so many things other than the God that can save them and provide purpose to their lives...then you know that we are living in that day.

And if we are in that day, or approaching that day, we can be encouraged (and excited) if we are in the one-third.  And if we are not in the one-third, then claim Christ as your Savior today(!) and get in the one-third, because we certainly do not want to be in the two-thirds.

In the whole land,” declares the Lord, “two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it. (9) This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold.  They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”  ~Zechariah 13:8-9

Aaah, the words of our Heavenly Father.  For--although sometimes sour going down...

This third I will put into the fire...
I will refine them like silver...
and test them like gold...  ~Zechariah 13:9

Living for the Lord and abiding in His Word and ways will always eventually leave a sweet taste in our soul:

They will call on my name and...
I will answer them...
I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”  ~Zechariah 13:9

~~~
If we are walking in the fire today, the Lord promises that He will bring us through.
Nothing happens to us without purpose.  ...God's divine purpose.  He is refining us.  At times, He is testing us to remove our impurities.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.  ~2 Corinthians 3:18
God is purposely refining us to prepare us for that day.  We are becoming more and more like Jesus each day.
It hurts!  But it is for our good and for us to become more like God.
He points out our impurities and tells us that they grieve Him, and that we must get rid of them.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (31) Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. (32) Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.  ~Ephesians 4:30-32
It's hard to live like Christ...but worth it!
Today's to-do list is the same as yesterday's:
Die to self and die to sin.
Die to self and die to sin.
Die to self and die to sin.
Die to self and die to sin.
Please, Almighty Father and King, allow us to be in the remaining one-third.  Keep refining us, Lord---for your glory.  Persist in purifying us, Father...for your glory.  Is there any sweeter claim that we can have on our lives and hearts than to be Your children, and in Your family, and in Your one-third.
They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”  ~Zechariah 13:9
How we live today determines what one-third or two-thirds we will be in tomorrow, on that day.
God says...the Bible says....the prophet Zechariah says that God is going to get serious one day soon, and the world will know it.
Blessings,
