For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. (8) She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”
For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.  ~Revelation 19:7-8

God is clear to us that our submission-to and our belief-in Him is first: Sinful us must commit our hearts to holy Him.

That is our first step to faith-in-God, and then....the journey begins in living for the Lord.

How?

He will show us.

Through His Word, the Bible: we will read it and God will prompt us to move and do in His Name.
And--through His people God will show and invite us.  At church, or in a meeting, someone that loves the Lord will invite us to serve, to go on a mission trip...to meet for prayer...and we will accept...and God will move.

Faith is first.  But faith-in-action (good deeds) are always close on faith's heels.

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? (15) Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. (16) If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? (17) In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

(18) But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. (19) You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

(20) You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? (21) Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? (22) You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. (23) And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend. (24) You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

(25) In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? (26) As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.  ~James 2:14-26

How can we understand and receive "fruit" as an invitation and then an outcome in our lives?
The answer is, (in a word or two): Good works.

Is it kind?

Will it help someone?

Could it bless someone?

Is it something that Jesus did or would do?

Then do it.  These are our good works for God.  And God delights for us to do them.

Do you know what else?  One day when we meet the Lord in Heaven, He will clothe us in the finest of pure white linen to wear as a result and a reward of our good deeds for Him.

God will (one day) invite His children to a celebration wedding feast

Who is getting married?
Us!

The Lamb of God will finally be wed to us--His children/His saints/His church/His bride.

And what we will wear in our after-life has everything to do with the good deeds that we do in our today-life.

Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: “Praise the Lord!  For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

(7) Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him.  For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. (8) She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”

For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people. (9) And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”  ~Revelation 19:6-9

Sometimes we wonder if God is watching?
He is.

He delights to see us smile at the stranger and give a hug to the prickly person.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

He does not miss when we give someone a second chance...and a third.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

He notices each time we forgive.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

He sees us opening the door for someone, cleaning up after ourselves, and making space for one more to join in.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

The Lord is aware of our awareness of others, and when we see the unseen, God sees.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

He rejoices when we share His hope and Truth, and God knows that we feel awkward and uncomfortable and unqualified in doing so.  And He delights when we do it still.
These are the good deeds of God’s holy people.

The Bible says that God will give us the finest of pure white linen to wear tomorrow because of the good deeds we are doing in His Name today.

Worth playing for?
Yes!!  Let's do some good deeds today!

How can we determine what?
Read the Bible.  God will whisper to us.
Find other Christ-followers...and follow them!  What are they up to and involved in?  Let's join them.

Let's do our good deeds for our good God today.
For the time is coming for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride (us!) is preparing herself!

Allowing our faith to be carried out via good deeds is how we honor God and prepare ourselves to meet him.  And because of these good deeds, we will be given the finest of pure white linen to wear when we join our Jesus at the wedding feast, and that time is coming.

For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.
(8) She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.”
For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people.
(9) And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.”  ~Revelation 19:7-9
