Aaaahh, we are at the start of a new season in our family. A number of new seasons, actually. From fresh soccer-team starts, to college move-ins, to a new nest-total within our home...it is definitely a season of changes.
And with the change from Summer into Fall, days-off into full-time, and just by the sheer nature of life, I know that all of us are experiencing change in our lives right now.
It's inevitable.
We want things to stay the same, but change (in our lives/in our world/in our selves) is constant.
And so I know that I am not the only one starting a new season.
And He is right here with us as we move into and through our changes. And we can praise Him for that.
Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! ~Psalm 147:1

What is your change?
I am missing two of my children who (beginning a new year in college) are merging who-they-are with who-they-will-be, and it's all taking place in a new environment that I am no longer a part of.
And God knows this.
God knows the changes that you face today and He is privy to mine as well. He gives us His Word to walk us through them.
(3) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
(4) He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
(5) Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. ~Psalm 147:3-5

Let's commit to being humble in change.
If we humble ourselves before Him, we are going to navigate change just fine.
Praise Him along the way, even and especially during the changes in our lives.
(6) The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
(7) Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.
(8) He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
(9) He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. ~Psalm 147:6-9

Another of our current family changes is a new soccer team for the season. So much potential(!), and so much strength, but the channeling of personalities, talent, and unity is something that only God can do.
These girls have strength of horses, and their legs are fierce from years of training and competition. But we won't succeed on these things alone--the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Will we defer to the Lord in our changes today?
(10) His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; (11) the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. ~Psalm 147:10-11
Our hope is not in ourselves, in our own strength, or in this world. Our only hope is in his unfailing love (Psalm 147:11).
...the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. ~Psalm 147:11

And change is here.
But so (also) is the Lord here.
(12) Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
(13) He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
(14) He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
(15) He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly...
(20) ...Praise the Lord. ~Psalm 147:12-15, 20

New seasons and changes in our lives mean new opportunities for us to trust God, and Psalm 147 is proof that our Lord knows exactly what changes we face, and He is navigating them with us through our faith.
(1) Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! (2) The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
(3) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
(4) He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
(5) Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
(10) His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior; (11) the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
(12) Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
(13) He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.
(14) He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
(15) He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly....
(20) ...Praise the Lord. ~Psalm 147:1-15, 20
