How many seasons of the year are there?

If we said "four" (Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring), then (for today's Quiz)--we would be wrong, because we forgot an important and delicious season.

In my area of the world, country, state, and city...it's pumpkin season.  "Pumpkin season" technically falls within the "Fall" Season, but it is most definitely a season all it's own.  One can identify "pumpkin season" by the flavor of pumpkin invading every drink (hot/cold/coffee/tea/creamer), every confection (donuts/muffins/cakes/crisps/cookies/...and the famous pumpkin "roll"), and even savory food items such as ravioli and soup.

Pumpkin season is known and experienced by tasting it in so many ways.  When it is pumpkin season, the flavor of pumpkin (can) apply and be infused into just about everything, even Oreos

Can we be the "pumpkin-flavor" of the Christian faith?  

Can we declare today the beginning of "Jesus Season", as we commence our focused efforts to season everyone and everything that we encounter...with Jesus (just as the Fall marketers do with pumpkin).

Let's pronounce this day as the first day of "Jesus Season", and let's flavor our office/school/neighborhood/appointments/family/team/gym/friendships/enemies/world with Jesus.  

His love for us...  
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? 
Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 
(36) As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”  
(37) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 
(38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  ~Romans 8:35-38
Let's pour the power of Christ's love over someone today...it's Jesus Season!

His forgiveness for us... 
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  ~I John 1:9
Let's sprinkle this truth of God over someone today...it's Jesus Season!

His mercy toward us...  
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, (5) made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.  ~Ephesians 2:4-5
Let's infuse even more people with the knowledge of God's mercy for them...it's Jesus Season!

His patience for us...
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  ~2 Peter 3:9
Let's drizzle the patience of our Lord over someone who needs reminded of it today...it's Jesus Season!

His wisdom over us...  
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.”   ~James 3:17
Let's weave the wisdom of our Lord into someone's awareness today...it's Jesus Season!

His salvation over us... 
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  ~John 3:16
Pour this truth of Christ into someone today...it's Jesus Season!

His joy over us...  
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”  ~Zephaniah 3:17 
Infuse someone with the Jesus-seasoning of joy today...it's Jesus Season!!

His call on our lives...
  • Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.  ~Matthew 16:24 
  • Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  ~Matthew 28:19-20
Let's share the Good News that God has a good plan for us, if we will join Jesus today...it's Jesus Season!

Like the popular (Fall) flavor of pumpkin, we will represent Jesus well if we become flexible to connect with those around us in order to share His hope and Truth with them.  

Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 
(20) To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. 
To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 
(21) To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 
(22) To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. 
I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 
(23) I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.  ~I Corinthians 9:19-23

Just as "pumpkin season" brings a hint of pumpkin to everything from cereal, to pasta, to chai, and to air fresheners...we can bring the aroma of Christ to those that we encounter on a daily basis.

It’s never too late to turn to the Lord.   And--it’s never too late to turn back to the Lord.   Do we GET IT?   King Hezekiah GOT IT.   The people in his area (Israel) had not been following the Lord, and they had fallen away from the (God-ordained) traditions that the Lord had designed to connect His people with Himself,  like going to church (Temple), and like celebrating the festival of Passover.  So they sent a proclamation throughout all Israel...inviting everyone to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover of the  Lord , the God of Israel. Ever been around boys (of any age)?  They don't concern themselves with talking about   other  boys...they are not (usually) comparative that way, and would prefer to be competitive instead.  They are often contented with jokes and sounds, rather than defaming other guys or discussing their shortfalls. But...ever been around women ( of any age )?  For some sinful reason, our conversations often seem to p ick-a-little, talk-a-little, pick some more and talk, talk, talk about other women.  We  simmer into a boil as we digress and regress into unbecoming chatter about   other  women.   It's a terrible habit and yet girls in elementary school don't need to be taught how and even elderly church biddies can't quite fully withdraw.  We all still fall to condemning others  from time to time.  We have this sinful draw to make ourselves feel good by chirping back and forth and making someone   else   feel bad. The earth is the   Lord ’s, and everything in it.   The world and all its people belong to him.   (2)  For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas  and built it on the ocean depths.   ~Psalm 24:1-2 We belong to Him, but also…our world belongs to Him: and  everything in it .   Everything.   Every tree and flower, every person, every pelican, everything. How are we responding to that glorious Truth today?   Can we praise Him today?  Can we acknowledge and absorb (and respond!) to the awesome Truth that we belong to Him :  the Creator of all things, and our Creator?   He laid the earth’s foundation ...and (even)  the earth  knows that it belongs to him ...
