I just want to praise the Lord for his children (of all ages) that are seeking and serving Him today.  My heart is so grateful for brothers and sisters in the faith!

And when we connect with them, or hear encouraging stories of their crusades for Christ, or serve alongside them...it is more than a blessing to our hearts--it is a fan to our spiritual flame!

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.  ~I Thessalonians 5:11

We have all experienced that "alone" feeling that can set-in for us as followers-of Christ.  You know the feeling--that we are alone in following Him.

It's (of course) not true, but (admit it!), we have all felt like it is true from time to time.

Elijah was a heavy-hitter for the Lord, and he had fierce faith.  The Lord allowed Elijah to be a part of big things (including miracles) but Elijah was still a normal person, like you and me, and he had times when we felt alone in his service to God.  In fact, once Elijah was almost ready to give up one time because he felt so low.

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there... (9) And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

(10) He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”  ~I Kings 19:3, 9-10

Elijah had gotten worn down in his faith, even though he had seen God do big things in his faith.

We all get worn down sometimes in our faith.  Even if we love the Lord, have fierce faith, and are a heavy-hitter for Him...

Day to day we can get weary, worn out, and even worried about the world and all that comes at us.  We can get pressed, and we can be pierced with the arrows of the evil one.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  ~Ephesians 6:16

But we know this also to be true--if we connect with even one brother or sister in Christ and are reminded of the power of faith and of the encouragement of others living out their faith--it is powerful.  It is special.  And it is renewing.

God gave us each other (in Christ) for each other (in Christ).  And to encourage each other (in Christ).

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: (10) If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.  But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. (11) Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.  But how can one keep warm alone? (12) Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.  ~Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Find a brother or sister in the faith today.  We will be glad we did. And so will they.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.  ~Proverbs 27:17

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  ~John 4:23

It is a true joy to "worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth" with other Believers.  There is a fire in it.  A flame that both warms our heart...and ignites our spirit in continuing to serve God.

Jesus tells the woman at the well that "a time is coming" when this will happen (worshiping the Father in the Spirit and in truth), and Jesus may (ultimately) mean Heaven, but when we are able to unite with faith-sisters and brothers here and now, on this earth and in our day to day--it's powerful and faith-refilling.

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!  ~Psalm 133:1

Need a (spiritual) pick-me-up?

Let's find a fellow believer!  Ask them what God is up to in their life?  Tell them where you have experienced Him lately in yours.

Let's find our faith fellows, because we need each other, and the Lord knows that:

  • For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body...  ~I Corinthians 12:12
  • For we are God’s fellow workers...  ~I Corinthians 3:9
