What "time" is it today, Lord? ...You tell us.
So often we see our situation or assess our circumstance--and then we tell You what we want, or think we need. We pray for our outcome, and we even read the Bible seeking confirmation of what we have seen, deemed, or assessed is best.
We mean well, but we decide what "time" it is, and then we seek Scripture for support, confirmation, and even for affirmation. And often...it works:
If it's time to move-on (from something), or a new season is beginning for us, then it's a time to plant and a time to uproot (Ecclesiastes 3:2).
If someone has died, it's a time to be born and a time to die (Ecclesiastes 3:2).
Heck, if we're cleaning out closets or a basement, it's a time to keep and a time to throw away (Ecclesiastes 3:2).
We can so easily use the Bible to fit our agenda and to support our efforts.
But not today.
What "time" is it today, Lord? ...You tell us.
You tell us what's on the docket for today, Lord...and any of these things could be.
We are not fitting You in today, Lord. We are laying ourselves prostrate before Your Word, and we want to fit in to Your divine plan and timing today. May Your verses be the footsteps leading us into our day. May our faith secure our path as we walk in You and learn whatever You have for us today.
Our answer is "Yes", and our "time" is discerned and defined by You alone.
What "time" is it today, Lord? ...You tell us.
(1) There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
(2) a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
(3) a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
(4) a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
(5) a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
(6) a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
(7) a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
(8) a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Who knows what today's "time" is except You, Lord.
Scatter stones today, or gather them?
Will we tear or mend?
Will we be silent or speak today?
Only You know, Father, and only You ordain. Help us to be faithful to you, Lord. ...To Your mission, and not ours. Keep us vigilant in staying true to You and to Your time.
Amen.
