Let your light shine before others today, Brothers and Sisters in Christ!  Let's be beacons, and sometimes we have to shine in the morning...in the early morning.

The sun had not even risen yesterday morning as I dropped off six students (all that our car could fit)  at their public high school at 6:45 in the morning for their Christian student group meeting before school.

Our pick-ups began at 6:20 AM, but the young people filling my vehicle were up-and-at-em, ready to roll, and they were shining.

One-by-one, we pulled in driveways and willing teens hopped in.  As we drove, they chattered, laughed, talked, and happily made room--as if they were in mid-day good moods, instead of pre-dawn hours.

Sidenote: I don't have to rack-my-brain too hard to remember back to high school and wonder if I got up before school for Bible study...because I didn't.  Did you?

But (praise the Lord!!) these kids ARE...and (weekly) many other students are as well.  They are letting their light shine before others.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (16) In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  ~Matthew 5:14-16

Let your light shine before others today, Brothers and Sisters in Christ!  It's just what Jesus tells us to do, but we want to over-complicate it, don't we?

How do other Believers do it?
What if people learn that I don't know all the (faith) answers?
I am not equipped.

We are old(er), and these insecurities can nag our spiritual confidence, but there was no tension during the pre-sunrise car ride yesterday morning.  Just young people who know who they are in Christ, and who are not afraid to put their light on its stand and let it shine before others and before each other.

That's it...The key to shining our light for the Lord is knowing that our light-source is Him.
It's not us, or our qualifications, or our spiritual-maturity.  Our light comes from God and when we shine, it is His light projecting out from our hearts and lives.  God is the Source of our light, and we can't let our insecurities hide His light (No!).

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, let's be emboldened and encouraged by the Bible today.  Jesus-in-us allows us to shine His light, and we cannot hide it.

Have we ever noticed?...  The most confident (in Christ) people that I know are not worried about what anyone else thinks about their faith or how they should "professionally" share and shine it.  Instead, their focus and desire is on what God has done for them (salvation!) and sharing that hope and truth (their testimony!) with others.

It's their story...but really, it's God's story.  He is the light, and we are called to shine Him!

And so (early in the morning, late at night, and every hour in between:) let's be beacons for the Lord today, because (at any age) if not us, then who?

We can't hide our light under a bowl.

But we can put our light on its stand, and we can give light to everyone.

Let's do it, and let's do it (even at 6:45 in the morning) so that others might glorify your Father in heaven.
