...because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

~~~
Do we have peace or panic in our difficult moments and decisions?
Let's picture this:
  • We are in a crowded hotel elevator and it is stuck and stopped between floors and the temperature in the packed elevator-car is rising...
  • Or..we are sitting in an emergency room examination room.  The pain is high, the results are due back any moment, and we have no idea what the diagnosis will be...
  • Or...we are at the tippy-top of the 1,083 foot-tall Eiffel Tower.  There are 1,665 steps to climb up and 1,665 steps to climb down.  But we are in a torrential thunderstrom with high winds and driving rain, and the structure is swaying.  The elevators are prohibited and frightened people are mob-mode.  Hundreds of people are pushing (each other and their limits) to descend the 1,665 steps to safety.
What do we do in panic-possible situations?
We can rely on God in unknown moments and seasons...because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever (2 John 1:2).
If we are facing something fearful today: we do not face it alone or within our own strength.  We can move forward in God's strength and peace because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever (2 John 1:2).
Accepting Christ into our heart and lives doesn't cause the rain to stop falling on our parades sometimes, or the thunder to stop threatening our sunny skies--but Brothers and Sisters in Christ: we do not fear the world/it's circumstances/or people...because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever (2 John 1:2).
We have Jesus.  Upon the acceptance of Christ as our Savior, we also accept Him as our Captain and our Protector.  Our life tour-guide and our resident peace-supplier.  Jesus resides within us as the Holy Spirit once we have invited Him in and...He never leaves.
If we have/are committed to Christ, then He is committed to us forever and He will be with us forever.  This is the truth, and this truth abides in us and will be with us forever.
Hallelujah!  Christ is here...right here in our hearts.  And that means that the fearful freak-out is not necessary, because His peace is always present.  Can we feel it?
The anxious thoughts are unnecessary, and the worry is wasted because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever (2 John 1:2).
We can leave the worry and fear behind...and we must.
Faith is not faith if we don't believe in the power of the Lord that we profess to live for.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (6) But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  ~James 1:5-6
Life-threatening diagnosis, or back-up-against-the-wall of culture: we need not waiver or wonder if God stands with us.  He does.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  ~Matthew 28:20
If we will stay fettered to God's Word and truth, then God and His truth will abide in us and will be with us forever (2 John 1:2).
There is peace in knowing that.
There is peace in living that.
Even if we are currently
  1. Stuck in an elevator...
  2. Awaiting (possible) life-altering news
  3. Seeking to maintain safety in a dangerous
Because of what our Lord did to offer us forgiveness and His peace: we can have it.  And we have it (His peace), even in the most difficult of situations.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (2) Therefore we will not fear...  Psalm 46:1-2
,
Diagnosis?  Whatever the results...God will walk with us.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me...  ~Psalm 23:4
Danger? God goes before us, and He has also prepared a room for us at our next address.  We should be wise today, but we needn't be worried about tomorrow.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. (2) My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (4) You know the way to the place where I am going.”  ~John 14:1-4
~~~

Whatever we face today--the Lord's countenance has already rested upon it.

We can receive and enjoy peace (not panic) in our difficult moments and decisions...because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever...  (2 John 1:2).
