The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~Proverbs 1:7
Our fear of the Lord (You, our King!) is the beginning of our knowledge today, Lord.
If we despise Your wisdom today, Lord, we are fools. If we despise your instruction today, Father, we are fools.
And so, we are starting with You today, Lord, and we are beginning our day...and our thoughts...and our schedule...and our activities...and our rest: with Your wisdom and instruction.
We fear You this day, Father. Above all else and before all else--is You, Lord. You are our beginning today.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~Proverbs 1:7
We admit it, Lord...we are fools sometimes. And looking back--we have definitely been a fool in the past (seeking our own wisdom and instruction instead of Yours.) But help us today, not to be a fool, Father. Help us to fear You (in holy fear, not frightened fear).
What is a fool? ...Someone who despises wisdom and instruction, first of God, and then from man.
Despise: that's a strong word. Do we know anyone who hates the Lord's wisdom and instruction?
Sure, we do. And our minds are hopping to their name and shame right now...but let's get honest. There have been times (and, Is this a time?) when we despise (/have-despised) wisdom and instruction from God in some area.
If we are being a fool today, then our Lord gives us the quick-change anecdote to moving away from being a fool: fear Him, and do not despise His wisdom and instruction.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~Proverbs 1:7
This verse (Proverbs 1:7), and this idea and this humility in heeding God's Biblical wisdom and instruction. And when we get beyond that wisdom and instruction, then the Lord (also) can get beyond that wisdom and instruction for us, and tell us what's next for us in His wisdom and instruction.
Don't be a fool.
We are not despising, but loving His wisdom and instruction today.
Our fear of the Lord (You, our King!) is the beginning of our knowledge today, Lord.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~Proverbs 1:7
